and I hate to admit this, but...

I like this one better than the b-swapped one. If I had to choose only one to keep? This one. It's still what it was designed to be. Just feels better.

Well, we can just put your LS in my car and you go MPFI with my D series in yours. lolol

motor mounts? i know ive swapped both ways with a mount kit and also swapping the brackets and using oem mounts, i loved the oem mounted swap better. although having a jdm front clip was the key to the project, but im shure its possible to graph the integra brackets to the civics. but this may not be why you feel this way?

but to say how i feel is thats why i like the dohc zc swap because of the oem mounts. its way cheaper and easyer than buying an siR front clip

Yes, it's amazing how he's transformed it for me - and I love it. He's doing the exhaust on his yesterday and today and he said something like this to me this morning, 'If I don't get finished today, you may have to drive the X-Terra tomorrow and I'll drive your wagon'.

    I just cracked up..........

Here's a nice shot from today:

I drove this one up to efguy's place today so I could use it as a wiring reference. Came back with a complete DA rear suspension and an LS engine in the back 8)

So today she got an Si transmission. The old one had been "popping out" of reverse for a good while, and finally lost reverse altogether a few weeks ago. I told her to just park it and grab another ride (we have 6 insured  )and I'd get to it when the current project went for paint. I had acquired the tranny for my car pre-swap, so like a lot of other things it kinda trickled down...

Also worked on the AC for hours
Took out the evaporator and fan, cleaned 'em up, put a belt on, vacuumed for over an hour, then had a leak when I started charging. Changed some o-rings and evacuated again, charged and now compressor isn't engaging. It was 10 o'clock, I'll worry about it later.

I respect the dedication you put on these wagons Trev. You the man!
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Thanks. Well, right now I'm letting the vacuum pump run for awhile with my fingers crossed.

Troubleshooting this AM, found the condenser fan/AC clutch fuse blown. Replaced the 15a and it blew again immediately. Put a 25a in and it worked, just ran it long enough to see that the system is working. Isolated the fault to the compressor clutch. Had a used compressor, was going to swap it but it would lock periodically when turning by hand (this AFTER draining/changing oil  ).
Sooooo, I cleaned up and swapped the clutch and coil from the bad compressor to the (hopefully)good one. Also changed the noisy tensioner bearing. Drained all the old oil, refilled with POE, flushed the lines again, more new o-rings...

With any luck, we'll have good news after awhile.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Well, good news! Works great, textbook pressures and temps. Icicles on the vents...

Then I went to unhook the gauges and the BRANDGODDAMNNNEW schrader valve in the low-side adapter fitting leaks!

I put the cap on it to (hopefully) hold it for a day or two...I was out of refrigerant- and patience.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Congrats man. Sucks about your valve though. haha

Make sure the valve core is screwed in tightly. I've had shraeder valves leak in the past, and most times it was because the core was not properly tightened.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Yeah, thanks. I tried that but it just ain't sealing... I'll just have to charge it one more time when I change the adapter.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
 Technician oversight. I used an unfamiliar brand of retro adapters, and the low side didn't have a complete schrader valve, just a thing to press the existing one. I think they're made this way so you don't have to have a valve core tool. I've done scores, maybe hundreds of retros. I've also redone a bunch of shadetree attempts that failed because of "stacked" valves. The usual thing is to remove the OE schraders before installing the 134a fittings. That's what I did... DUH. If I had even glanced at the new fittings I would have seen the problem.

Put a new adapter on, evacuated and recharged. Hard nipples

Well! It's been awhile since I've updated this. The car is daily driven and solid as a rock, there really have been no changes...

    until now :D

Got her this console and coleco mats for her birthday. I modified an extra ashtray to mount her GPS. It seemed like a cool idea, but I didn't consider reception problems with it that low in the car. We'll see how it goes. edit: she just texted me that it is working well. I guess the windshield is raked enough for it to "see" satellites.

    190.jpg

Both of us have a variant of this cupholder. It works well, if just a little tacky.

    191.jpg

Console even has a lighted ashtray and lighter socket. The harness is plugnplay.

I need to steal your design for that cup holder Trev, how'd you do it?

That one is just one of those cheapos that hooks on the door. I cut off the hook, used some washers and a spacer and mounted it to the existing hole with a longer screw. Mine is a little different, it's one I had on the boat that mounted with a suction cup- just removed the suction cup and mounted with similar hardware.
  • ThaClutcHThaClutcH Senior Wagonist
Great idea. I might do that before the meet.
