It'll be painted tomorrow (sunday) but I probably won't pick it up for a few days- maybe even next weekend. I'm busy right now cleaning and scuffing trim.
all jokes aside, it's a labor of love. It'll cost double the car's book value if it's even halfass right. I'm doing it sorta on the cheap by R&Iing all the trim, lights, bumpers and stuff, plus all the tedious handwork to refinish them myself. Plus the painter is doing it "on the side" weekends. We'll end up about a grand cash, plus 40-60 hours of my time.
anybody know where to get the filler plugs for the front license plate holes? I've seen them on cars, but never for sale... is that an aftermarket thing, or OE?
Great job Trev! I like how you made that extra effort to remove all the moldings and all the trims for paint job. Doing it right! Cant wait to see the finished product. Did you and Pebbles decide to paint the wagon a slight darker grey like we discussed?
Thanks, I'm just using what I learned on the last one to step it up a notch. In fact, I believe (except for the chance of breakage) that it's easier to remove all the black bits than to mask them twice.
Yes, She 's decided on Porsche meteor grey. I haven't seen it in person, it's an '08 Cayman color (She's working next to a Porsche place ) It should be a close enough match so as not to have to do the jambs.
It's a dark grey, not actually the porsche color code (would cost extra) but close.
Man that looks good! The color is so sick! People dont really know how re- finishing all the trim makes a huge difference. Bumpers look great too! Job well done Bam!

scrubbing, sanding, prepping every little giblet that's not to be painted body color. I've got plastic spread all over the yard...
the parts car makes a good drying rack
These are all culls. Picked through to find the cleanest straightest parts.

Went out to the bodyshop today togive the final nod on color. Helped pull some trim and weatherstripping, taped the wheels
then went home to work on the black bits
I can't wait to put it all back together!

Should have some really nice progress this weekend...
Got it mostly reassembled today. It's going to have to go back to the painter for a few touchups, notably this:
spots beneath both the right door handles  so I held up on trimming that side.
