is that available at advance auto or Lowe's or somewhere like that?
umm, no. It's an industrial-supply type thing. I just used it because it was available. I think "Liquid Nail" type stuff would work well, you want something that's really tenacious but remains somewhat flexible.
There are several roof rack threads :P This one is about progress on this car.
Good news...if i can manage to get it ready in the next few days, the car will be painted this weekend. She's decided on a color, I just need to:
Get the inserts in for the rack
change out another under -taillight filler
fix hood alignment
remove weatherstripping
remove bumpers
remove lights
remove door moldings
mirrors
inner fenders
antenna
plate garnish
rear spoiler
anything else black I'm forgetting...door handles? rocker panels...
a shot of my redneck drill stop. The headliner in my car has some holes because I didn't think of this
Anybody ever manage to get this piece off? I'm trying to address all the little things that bug me about my car, like the door handles, this trim, weatherstrip oversprayed etc.
Hood is the only odd-colored panel, will get resprayed. Masked off decal:
It's darker than that close-up appears, flash effect I guess. That's just one I painted when we had the blue wagon...I couldn't talk her into it, tho. It's not in the plan for this car, just a junk wheel to roll in the booth. I am having a set sprayed the same as the body, we'll see how that goes.
Man, I really hope my car is rust free. I don't even have surface rust really. LOL That's so awesome you're getting it painted! Good luck! I talked to the guy who offered to buy my Blazer and things are looking promising for me. The whole SE will be rocking new paint soon! Lol.

That piece is under the glass. I don't think you'll get it off without removing the window. I am planning on changing all the mouldings around my windows, and that one and the sides will be the hardest part of the restoration.
Great job Trev! I like how you made that extra effort to remove all the moldings and all the trims for paint job. Doing it right! Cant wait to see the finished product. Did you and Pebbles decide to paint the wagon a slight darker grey like we discussed?

Thanks. That's kinda what it looked like to me, but I thought the same of the rearmost side window trims, and they came off. There are two tiny torx-head screws from inside the hatch, but they sure didn't make it fall off![/quote]

Thanks, I'm just using what I learned on the last one to step it up a notch. In fact, I believe (except for the chance of breakage) that it's easier to remove all the black bits than to mask them twice.
Yes, She 's decided on Porsche meteor grey. I haven't seen it in person, it's an '08 Cayman color (She's working next to a Porsche place ) It should be a close enough match so as not to have to do the jambs.
OK, gang. It's noon Friday and I'm leaving to tow the car to the body shop.
All morning I've been hearing the economic news on the radio, arguing with myself over whether to spend the money right now.. After the election, will i be allowed to have an extra car? Which one will be confiscated and redistributed to someone "less fortunate"?
I'm stopping on the way back to buy 100# bags of dried beans and rice

...now if somebody would just explain it to her

: )hi bam, yes i'm fine, thank you
whachootalkinbout???
can't wait for y'all to see what he got me today.....
I bought the towers on ebay for like $23, then paid <20 at Pullapart for Ford Aerostar rack. Much cleaner than the Kia/Yak setup on mine.
The only drawback I see is that the crossbars will end up about 3/4" higher from the roof. No big deal...
sorry, car is nasty...it's been doing its job!
be right behind ya ...
nothing personal
hahahha
: )
