you're wagon is just so awesome.. jealouss haha.
and those headers turned out super good after the polish!
what'd you polish them with?
Thanks
I just used Mothers "Mag Wheel and Aluminum" Polish. Obviously a proper stainless steel polish would have been better but I didnt have any of that around.
I sanded with 800grit sand paper then used a felt wheel on my battery drill to shine them up. Then rubbed them down Isopropyl Alcohol once they were on to removed any oil my hands would have deposited on them. I dont expect them to stay looking like they are since they are just cheap, low grade stainless.
For cars less than 5 years old, once a year.
For cars older than 5years, once every 6months, costs about $40. On top of this we have to pay registration which is just under $300 a year.
They check everything is working and there is no structural rust at all (all those wagons on here with rusted rear arches would fail) and that things like tyres, wiper blades etc etc are all in good condition.
Failed inspection this afternoon But not for things it should have failed on like the motor swap.
Fail list is:
-Non Retractable Rear Seatbelts: Shuttles dont have self retracting ones so who knows what they are on about
-Wrong Tie Rod ends: they are brand new EF9 ones to go with EF9 hubs and it has had a wheel alignment with them no problem
-Damper Adjustable Suspension needs certing: no, height adjustable suspension does, not damper adjustable
-Leaking Front brakes: No, I bled the brakes last night and a bit of fluid dribbled out
-Non OEM brake Line brakets: They are bent up Aluminum brackets with 6mm Stainless bolts, stronger than stock
-Perished Brake hose: sweet as I can fix that
So change of plans. I will replace the brake hoses, put my adjustable coilover sleeves in, get the exhaust done and then go for a certification.
Frustrating but thats the way things are
Just a garage down the road, I wont be going there again. Though in saying that, he didnt charge me for it and didnt put it in the system so cant complain too much.
I did however just buy some Goodridge Braided brake lines and some Skunk2 Coilover sleeves. Front suspension is out and disassembled, working 14hours tomorrow, then will take out the rear suspension on Friday.
Unfortunately Im away for work the next 2 weeks, so that will put a halt to proceedings.
glad we don't go through rigorous inspection here in the states lol. I think i'd kill myself xP
Im actually a fan of them, it means that i dont have to worry that the cars coming towards me on the road are falling apart and are basically a rolling death trap.
Unfortunately a by-product of this is when you come across an Inspector that doesnt know what he is doing as I seem to have found in this case.
haha yeahh seems like you got some dumb things to fix that shouldn't need fixing seeing they are better than stock.
They have to factor in the lowest common denominator. Just because I know how to install the correct parts in the correct way doesnt mean everyone else does
That inspector didnt seem to know what he was doing, maybe had a bad day? The only things it should have failed on are:
-Engine swap (needs certification to show it has been done safely and supporting mods have been done, i.e bigger brakes)
-Small amount of play in rack end (its in spec still but usually they just say it needs to be fixed before the next inspection)
But he missed the motor swap and mis-diagnosed the rack end.
Fitted extended tophats and coilover sleeves today on the front only, still have the rear to do which I will do next weekend. I will likely raise it very slightly as I will be running higher profile tyres and the sump, gearbox and headers are rather low.
Drift spec:
Rear needs to come down, though its only just come off the jack so likely sitting higher than normal
Hell yea! I love it! Does the rear sit as well as the front once settled?
I dont know yet, still has just lowering springs in the rear, will be putting the coilover's in next weekend then have a play with the height.
I think I will end up with the front slightly higher than in the pics and the rear with the tyres just tucking under the guards.
Still need to put the new tyres on before I settle on a height for certification, but I would like to think the front wont be too far off from where it sits in the pics
Put the rear suspension in today, for whatever reason its only just captive as it sits even with Keeper springs and extended tophats. But thats fine as its at the height I want.
Here is the front tophats installed:
And for those wondering whats up with the forum, there is a technical issue that will be fixed when possible. We would make an announcement but we cant start a new thread !!

I WANT ONE!
Haha, good for a laugh eh
Stock wheels on so as not to draw too much attention to it for inspection.

Here is some video's from today, had to go for a quick illegal drive for "testing purposes"

And a quick rev up, ignore the CEL. The knock sensor is only hand tight so was having a hissy fit

Try having 2 cars and then on top of Inspection and Registration paying over $1000 a year Insurance Costs a lot but its worth it

They worked out way better than I imagined. Was unsure if they would work when I bought them.
They are Work Nezart (unsure which model) 15x7 +25et front (I had these on the rear previously) and 15x8" +35et Rear
