  • looks good the body looks like its in great shape
  • Thank you fellows, you're too kind.

Spent more money today :( But closer to a cert :D

Got new rack ends in(one had play in it), some DC2 Goodridge braided brakelines and had a 2.5" Catalytic Converter put in with 2.25" piping small inline muffler back to the Trust rear muffler I got a few months ago.
Result? As quiet as stock and obviously offers much better flow than the stock Shuttle exhaust

So now just need to get the tyres put on (hopefully Friday afternoon/Saturday morning) then will have the Blox Rear Camber arms and Toe arms I have coming from Tyson installed along with a wheel alignment. Then CERT TIME!

Also have a feeling my alternator is poked, bearings are noisy but it doesnt seem to be charging, only have 10V across the Battery when the car is running, will suss that out at some stage between now and then.

Haha, that will change, trust me. Its just that I am more motivated to work on it when its inside. Last weekend it was about 30 degrees celcius outside so was nice to be in the shade and not boiling.

Thanks guys, they seem to get a good response. Even the guys at the exhaust shop loved them.

Thankyou sir, I must admit that your wagon is one of the ones that inspired me to build this
  • Got the new tyres on finally and replaced my alternator. Now just need a wheel alignment and to get it certified which should hopefully happen in the next 2weeks:

Thanks guys, its good to know I havnt been blinded as to how it looks like you can with some projects, its good to take a step back and appreciate it sometimes rather than just look at individual parts like I was for a while.

  • Small update, car is basically ready for a cert now. Just need to do a couple little minor jobs (knock sensor needs tightening etc) and it should be good to go.

Received this (These?) in the mail yesterday thanks to Alex@MoonLight Racing:

Gah Typical  I have a slimline LED strip one on the way, only cost $5.

Thanks for all the positve feedback guys.

Had a bit of a break from this as my grandmother sadly passed away last week, but I got back into it this afternoon after work.

Intake Manifold removed to get at the knock sensor which was broken, I repaired that now just need to re assemble:

I wouldnt have minded an OEM one but will see how the new one goes when it arrives. If its not suitable at least I know where an OEM one is :D

Thankyou, we have known it has been imminent for a while now so its not too bad. She was 88 so had a good run

I have been the same, it wasnt until the last Japanese user to sign up posted a pic of his in the packaging that I found them. You have to modify them slightly to fit but once you figure out how to interpret the Japanese instructions installation only takes 10mins or so :D

    those blinds would be awesome.

i feel bad about your grandma too.
i was sad when mine passed 2 years ago.

Nice, when I learn Japanese or meet someone who speaks it, maybe I'll get me a set!

They are rather swanky I must admit, I will enjoy playing with the adjustments

Yes its a sad time but at least it wasnt sudden and we had time to prepare for it.

No need! There are two NZ company's that I know of that will buy bits from Japan for you, they are:
    www.mlracing.co.nz
    www.hayatonka.com

They may be able to send to the states, or im sure there are company's where you are that provide the same service
  • Put my intake manifold back together and what do you know? The knock sensor still shows a CEL sometimes  Might just have to splash out on a new one.

But some non driveway/back lawn/garage pics for you all, they are taken with my phone as it was a spur of the moment thing:

Still not sure about the "no rear camber" thing the alignment guy did though. Currently has -0.5degrees, but I think it needs about -1 or -1.5.

It goes......rather fucking fast now :D and I have it booked it for its certification Inspection for Friday 8) Just have a couple little jobs like replacing some vacuum hoses etc to do.
