damn the ae86 is so nice, what wheels are on it?
  • Thanks everyones.
The wheels on my 86 are "Dori Dori" ... Discontinued wheels from SSR, 3 pieces mesh.
    Keiichi Tsuchiya's wheels ^^.

    I apologize, I did'nt post anything from a while...
My "mini-me" is finished and the Shuttle runs very fine !

The rest of the story with pix :D

D16A7 (Shuttle) versus D16Z6 (Civic EG) header...

I just can't use the Z6 header because of the RT4WD trany and I can't mix the 2 headers (to keep the hole for the O² sensor) because the upper part is taller on the Shuttle :?

Gasket was a mess to (very carefully) clean ! I used a D16Y8 metal head gasket for the new head.

The little "oil jet" you have to remove to make the VTEC works.

New head torqued to spec, the timing belt from the D16A7 was to large (107 teeth) I used a D16Z6 one (104 teeth).
I kept the low impedance injectors + resistor box from the A7.

    168413_10150177466594778_704889777_8678308_3744940_n.jpg
I had to keep this part from the Shuttle (righ one)

    167968_10150177521239778_704889777_8678696_7975551_n.jpg
The OBD0 to OBD1 harness with PM7 and P28 ECU... I had to modify this harness a little :?

    179198_10150177521489778_704889777_8678698_7385401_n.jpg
7 new wires to pass trough here :
    3 -> VTEC Solenoid + VTEC Switch
    4 -> O² Sensor
I also used the OBD1 Z6 dizzy, so I had to cut and resold all the dizzy's wires

    168151_10150178067029778_704889777_8685788_7603982_n.jpg
Some other parts I had to mixed:
The rear piece that hold the intake manifold to the block is taller on the Z6.
The rear tube that run from the water pump to the thermostat housing have one more "picking" on the Z6.

    184750_10150187207699778_704889777_8806031_1617950_n.jpg
I modified the lower section of the Shuttle (RT4WD) header to accept the O² sensor.

    181720_10150178680914778_704889777_8695834_2600393_n.jpg
Timing is OK, Valve clearance is OK, the uper timing belt cover (Z6) doesn't fit with the lower cover from the A7 on the block.

In fact my 1st P28 was burnt and it tooked me a couple of days to find out, now the Civic runs very very well !

    I did that to :

    185801_10150192442969778_704889777_8862123_5056303_n.jpg
OEM lip, I ordered an EF7 front lip (bolt-on on the Shuttle), I recieved an EF9 one (I guess)

    180045_10150193331589778_704889777_8869103_3919206_n.jpg.
It doesn't fit very well but that's OK for me ^^

Nice !!! Dori Dori on the CB, woaw :D
You found a set of BBS RS in 4x114.3 ? Or they are redrilled ? I try to find 4x114.3 BBS RS here... Almost impossible :?

My CB is not very nice compare to yours, and it's on stealies for the moment... I've got a set of Megan EZ street coilovers waiting in the garage :D
Again very nice white CB !
  • brownricebrownrice New Wagonist
Thanks for the kind words man. The bbs rs are not re-drilled, they are not that rare here in the states in 4x114.3. You have a very clean CB, and if you're looking to mod it make your way to cb7tuner.com to get more info or parts. :D

    in english
yeah cool! thanks! online selling website only gives me 175/65/13 as oem tires fitment. in the workshop wich can be find at http://www.japancar.fr, they only says about 165r13, nothing else. so if the car's sticker deal with 2 size, well be able to put a lot of different tires on this car without law problems !!!!
(translate is tricky, and i've done a lot of mistake ...)

I haven't been around for long here, but after some researches I think you're the only one here who mini-me'ed a D16A7.
Besides the issues you stated above, what do you think of the mod ? Is it a smoother engine, did you notice a difference in fuel consumption ?
By the way, do you know the actual compression ratio (since you have A7 pistons, not A6s) ?

    Keep on good work !

what sealant did you use to reseal the wheel lip to the centers?

    Hey !!

    Smoother engine = YES
FASTER for sure and I burn a little less SP98.
But the Intake, header and exhaust are OEM, so it's difficult to say about the real gain in power, not much in fact but the Shuttle is definitly faster!
My CR must be a little less than 11:1.
    delsol8017 wrote:

A universal "black" sealent from LOCTITE that I found à my local car shop.

Sorry I don't post here very much... Nothing very new about my Shuttle in fact. I worked a lot on my Accord CB :

I bought a complete engine (D16Z6) with harness and ECU for cheap, I sold the complete bottom around the same price :D It wasn't such a bad deal :D

Wow, your wagon looks like new! How did you get the engine so clean? All the plastic and rubber looks perfect. My engine bay is scratched and the paint looks terrible.
  • It's a lot of work !
I used product from Chemical Guys, Poorboy's, Meguiars (pro)...etc...
For the engine bay, I used Insta Finish Premium Blue as DEGREASER (1:1), Meguiars Degreaser is fine too + Foam spray + autoglym wheel brush.
Then rince and dry. And Chemical Guys "new look trim gel" on a pad for all the Plastics and Hoses.
Meguiars Engine dressing is fine too (with Micro Fiber Towel).

For the engine bay paint, I polished it on my AE86 using 3M Compound and Polish, not a very simple job ^^
  • bbs on wagons = sexy on wheels+swag... love it man it looks super good
