Here are the pics of the blind install. I am wondering how to incorporate smaller manual blinds for the rear quarter glass panels. That would really complete the look.
I haven't figured out a way to route the wiring harness and mount the switch yet. I'd like to do a really clean install so that it looks as oem-like as possible.
Thanks for the bump, CarlRosa. I got the parts by pure luck really. Couple of jdm friends
I have quite a few updates to post soon. I just got accepted to WekFest Dallas(indoor car show)so I got less than a month to get some major things done. Stay tuned.
Still working on the cargo cover for USDM rear interior.
Here is the rough template for the shape.
I plan on making my own driver's side block off plate asap. If anyone has photos of where the OEM wagon mirrors are supposed to be mounted, please contact me. I would sincerely appreciate it.
Thanks to my good friend, Shane for the parts hookup. Congratulations to you and your girl getting engaged!
Can't wait to mount the speakers and the mirrors..she's gonna look so frikkin weird!

Laws of attraction in full effect, bro!
All I did was ask and it appeared at the right place at the right time. Not that I don't wanna share the love...the mirrors alone were the last pair in Japan(my bud Shane can vouch for that). If I could share the resources I would lol.. again it's just being at the right place at the right time. Fate handles the rest.
can't wait to see the mirrors on i think they will look awesome
Word. I think they're gonna look kinda funky, but in a good way. I did as much research as I could to find out how these are mounted. The bases don't have any kind of rubber seal so the plastic sits right on the paint. They are perfectly lined so that they kinda hang over the outer fold. You have to see it to know what mean.
The mirrors didn't come with a mounting nuts or a metal support plate. I am wondering if I need to do that. I may hit up Honda - tec . c o m and see what the classic forum has to say about it. They're going on this week. I will post pics of the install and final look.
Sorry for the long delay in updates. I've been pre-occupied with health issues and other financial troubles. That all had forced me to put my cars on the back burner. On top of all that, my CRX's motor just keeled over and died about a month ago so I've been using the shuttle as a daily grinder more than ever before.
Thanks to my good buddy, Jay(91awd).. with his help I was finally able to do a full timing belt/water pump replacement. So that puts a lot of worry at ease since I had not changed the belt since I had the car.
The biggest update is the fender mirrors! I finally got them on.
I first had to custom make a driver's side block off plate. Then, using a step drill bit set I was able to gently and precisely cut the holes in the fenders.
Mounting them was the tricky part because it seems that the fender mirrors themselves didn't come with complete hardware so I had to improvise using nylon spacers and washers. Once everything was lined up smoothed out I simply snugged everything down by hand and secured the anchoring with nylon nuts. The holes had to be done EXACTLY because the bases of the mirrors are custom made for the wagon fenders. There is a slight lip that actually curves over the fender line. The bases even have the SH5 OEM Honda markings on them
I know some people may not like them, but I think they rule. The mirrors definitely help with the blind spots. Coupled with my broadway mirror they're an even better combo.
Stay tuned. More updates to come soon. I just got ahold of a nice Honda Access maplight with the sunglasses compartment. I also scrapped my old idea for the cargo cover and came up with something different that will look better.
fudging awesome.... love the OEM-ness of this car...
Thanks Billboard. Appreciate the kind words. I know the look may not suit everyone. I am tracking down another set of OEM fenders now to have as backup. So if I ever sell them and go back to stock I won't have any issues. But for now I am really diggin' the setup. I feel like Captain Kirk sittin' behind the controls with more to look at now. Best parts I don't have to turn my head to check both mirrors.
Where would this wagon be without me hooking you up? ;-)
Good stuff bro. I'll touch base with you through PM.
Sho' yo right!
This is the man that helped me with most of the nicer parts for my wagon. People often ask me "Jesse! Where did you get that part" and I tell 'em "Sweet Sugar-Shane Hookup!"
You taught me a lot about these cars, Shane. Thanks for always being there with parts and advice, bro.
Over the weekend I made time to install my overhead storage bin/maplight.
I've seen these before in the CTR catalog but this one supposedly came out of a JDM Odyssey or CR-V. Not sure which one.
Took me a few mins to figure out the wiring and grounding. Once that was done, I had to make 2 small incisions in the headliner so the frame could "hook" onto it for extra support. What I loved most about this is that the mounting holes lined up PERFECTLY with the OEM mirror. The results came out better than expected.
Now I have super bright light in the front and some extra convenient storage space for my stunna shades and whatever else I wanna stash there
You have been an inspiration over the last ten min of my life lol. I want to install my RC51 mirrors just like that. Does it still count as OEM if the parts are from a motorcycle?

Sheesh... Would you just look at that.
It's somethin' else. Cool ride my friend.
