GR33K's Wagon. Updated 3/24. 56K!!!!

I purchased this Wagon on August 9, 2010 for $1200. All the Wagon was supposed to be was a college beater, but I got a soft spot for it. The previous owner was a go to you mechanic and didn't treat the car well at all. I asked if he ever washed it and he said "I think I did once." I will let the pictures do the talking!

Pictures of when I first got what is now Stanley the Wagon.

After a thorough bath inside and out I had a good starting point.

    254.jpg

    What curb?

    255.jpg

Then I masked him off (with my girlfriends magazines) and painted the trim to bring some life back.

  • looks just like mine. nice start.

I used Duplicolor trim and bumper coating, and this is the outcome.

I put in my OEM cassette Acura Integra radio (plugged right in) to replace this mess.

    267.jpg

Then I took my glove-box out to find these various items...

    268.jpg

    20 napkins
    A check-book
    A bank loan statement
    A pen
    5 packs of Tylenol
    9 AA batteries
    And a gas receipt

Its like I won the lottery... of useless crap.

    I got my:
    HCW sticker
    BMW bottlecaps
Thule roof rack with custom Gamestop basket. haha
Painted the valve cover and intake cover wrinkle black
Painted the heat shield gloss black
And lastly used a 50/50 mix of water and Simple Green on the engine bay

sweet RACK... you planning on lowering it. ??
  • GR33KGR33K Wagonist
I would, but the Wagon is a devoted DD. I also want to keep him off the radar. I am thinking about getting Tokico blues on stock springs though.
  • i like the rack
  • I like your wrinkle valve cover. I've been wanting to do that for a while now.
Looks great man. It's nice to see someone pay attention to details.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Its nice to have people who appreciate all the work done.
  • Looks like you've got a great start!

I hear you about the ride hight, man. Mine is the same way. Right now I'm digging not having kids try to race me, cops staring at me and driving over speed bumps at a normal speed! lol!

There was a sound of air moving around and rattling under my dash so I took it out to see whats up.

    304.jpg

The tubes which let air through the vents were disconnected and not moving the air properly. So I zip tied them to ensure they stay in place

    305.jpg

There is also another tube connection under the dash above the clutch pedal I found. This one was also disconnected.

I agree on the ride height. After having my wagon lowered, then raised back up, I prefer the high ride much better. Tit drives & rides better that way. Not to mention the scrape factor. Nice work on your wagon! Can't wait to see it in person :)

The paint is beyond saving. I am going to have to get the whole car repainted.

Heck yeah, represent the meet! That's right!

Any who, I noticed your wrinkle valve cover, what all did you do to get it like that? I assume you used the wrinkle paint, but what steps did you take to get it the way you did? Layers, steps, etc. I just recently got my y7 swap, and I'm wanting to wrinkle a valve cover for it. :D Gotta make my car sexy for the meet. :D

I stripped the valve cover down to bare metal with aircraft stripper. (Dont get that stuff on your hands! It burns!)
Then I used the VHT wrinkle black paint (Rattle can). READ THE DIRECTIONS THOROUGHLY!
You have to let it sit for 2 hours to see if it even wrinkles correctly.
To do this you have to do 3 HEAVY coats all crossing eachother.
Then let it sit for 24 hours before touching it.
Then after 48 hours you can put it back together, but you have to cure the paint first in the oven for 1 hour at 200* F.
I still need to sand the letters down though.
