I know how you feel. I've been there, done that. I wasn't crawling along at 15 mph though. A few years ago I was on the way to work for the graveyard shift, blasting up the highway (slight uphill) winding out the gears. I was in 5th, approaching 7,000 rpm when suddenly, BANG! There was a whole lot of smoke, and then the oil light came on. I coasted off the side of the road and stopped. Suprinsignly enough the engine was still idling (pretty rough though). The motor was a JRSC D series making about 175 whp. 2 rods broke. 1 right at the big end, and the other, just like you, exactly 1/2 way. It was just too much power for the rods. Period. The bearings were perfect, the pistons/rings were perfect, but the rest of the bottom end was absolutely thrashed. The broken rods took out the girdle, the oil pan, the block, etc... Engine still started and idled on 2 cylinders though!

The epic in this thread owns!!! I remember seeing this vid and this being about 80% the reason why I wanted a wagon. Don't think I'll turbo mine but jumping dunes = WIN!!!!

Have you had any notable driveline failures? If so, do you think they happened because of boost or general destruction?
