15" Enkei wheels painted with Krylon gold. Got some 205/60/15 tires mounted on there to give me an extra .8" ground clearance.
Also painted the valve cover while I was at it:
Does the heat that thing puts off cause any problems? Like the radiator or AC parts losing efficiency from heat soak?
Someone with your obvious fab skills could build a sheet metal heat shield, like you get on a lot of kits...
Or maybe liberal use of either insulating or reflective wraps.
The engine heats up to operating temperature much faster than it did without the turbo, which will be nice in the winter. But once at operating temp, it will stay there, even with the stock radiator. The fan does come on a lot more often, but no overheating issues yet.
Car has no a/c.
hope you find the parts you need for the turbo wagon!
Wayne
What is this "winter" you speak of?
No a/c is tantamount to suicide here...which is one of the big reasons I haven't turbo'd my CRX
I bought a chipping kit for turboedit from www.xenocron.com for $25. Car runs great. I have about 8k on the turbo kit (and 194k on the engine).
its like watchin my old install years ago, but better
great job guys, this is the exact reason I had to have a wagon site
and keep Wayne aka Sanjiyan 69 on track with his wagon
Does this involve simply removing the valve cover, repainting and reinstalling the cover with a new gasket?
If so, I can definitely do this with my limited engine mod skills... LOL
Let me know!!
Cheers !!
P.S. Great looking red wagon!!! Kinda reminds me of my very first car, a red Lada wagon. I'm sorry I ever let me ex-wife talk me into selling that thing... maybe that's why she's the ex-wife ???
Thanks.
"Oil return. Drilled into the pan because we didn't want to remove the transmission to remove the oilpan."
wouldn't that leave metal shavings in the oil pan?
i am piecing together my kit and this still is an issue for me.

This car is ultra reliable. Been on several road trips. One up to the U.P. and Wisconsin. We just drove it from Michigan to Colorado and back (with 5 dudes) with no worries. Oil is changed every 3000 miles with full synthetic. Spark plugs are changed every 3000.
Details of the turbo build are here:

A video of the wagon in the snow:

Can you show us the hitch? Going to fab one for my car, but the tow hook is right in the way. Did you cut it off? I know 2" sounds silly but I have 3 different bike racks and a cargo basket... all 2" to fit my Suburban and wife's Xterra.
thanks
The 2" receiver hitch is off a chevy truck. We chopped the stock wagon bumper and welded in the hitch and then braced it to the factory tow hooks. The wagon loves towing. And it loves xmas trees.

Completed kit
We were having some troubles with the AEM EMS so the car is not on the road yet. The EMS is the OBD0 version so it plugs directly into the stock wagon ecu plugs, but the EMS seems to be unhappy with the OBD1 distributor. It is not sending any outputs (spark, fuel injector pulse) with the OBD1 distributor hooked up. We are going to have to figure out how to make the software work with the OBD1 dizzy or switch to a OBD0 distributor. We may have to convert to OBD1 and use Chrome just to get it running. More updates will be coming soon.
Many thanks to Jeremy Jabaay who built the whole kit. Also thanks to Chris, Roberto, Adam, brother-in-law Mike, Cornbred Andy and TallKyle for helping out this weekend.
I am taking a motor in to the shop to have some polishing work done to the head, and the block cleaned up good for your old kit.
Hope you get some more cool vids up when it is done.
Nice valve cover !!
Speaking of which, I was looking at mine lately and it's kinda ratty. I was thinking of removing it and the EFI (?) cover and repainting them flat black.
As for pulling the valve cover, it is recommended a new VC gasket be installed? Also, I guess high temp paint is also recommended?
Thx for your input.
