as for the power steering reservoir could it b rotated to the side of the inner fender still behind the drivers head light.....
lost me on a prop.valve  what is that ...???

Prop valve for proportioning the brakes.

Little silver thing on the passenger side shock tower.
  • Wouldn't you be able to keep all the hard line in the original spots and just use longer stainless lines to the calipers? Or did I miss something?

Yes, but I've removed the place where the proportioning valve was. I'll have to relocate it a little lower. Really the least of my problems atm.

    SMOKIN' PROGRESS tonight!

    literally

    549.jpg

while welding this piece, I got the firewall a little warm

    550.jpg

guess that's what I get for welding on a fully dressed car, huh? Look what I did to the blower housing:

    551.jpg

    It's coming together slowly

    552.jpg
  • Whew ^^ that got a little warm haha... good progress though!! i could read this thread over and over lol
    Good job man!!

Just remove all the power steering stuff and replace it with an MR2 electric pump and reservoir tank. Means you can mount it where ever you want and take a *tiny* bit of stress away from the engine.

+300 more baller points obviously

I'm sure you have a spare blower assembly?

I spoke with Pat and he said you were making a trip to the metal super market.

I guess you did by looking at that.

Yes, I should have known better.
    Yes, I have spares (duh)
Yes, I did go buy some steel.

    Made some strides tonight...

    603.jpg

Managed to get the other side done with no flameage. In fact, I stripped the firewall first this time

    604.jpg

pattern first with cardboard, then transfer to metal

    605.jpg

    606.jpg

    607.jpg

Got the tops done, time to move underneath again!

^like it was made that way....!!!
  • Is the drivers side one going to clear the alternator?

I cant remember how close it is there with a Dseries
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
if it doesn't, its not big challenge to THIS GUY.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
I'm not worried about the alternator, the whole engine will drop 4". Alternator should be below the "frame".

I AM concerned whether the supercharger will clear the firewall and apron. And how the steering shaft will work...
  • Ohhh I see what you are doing, I assumed engine was staying in the factory position but then I guess drivesaft angles would be unworkable
  • DRMORTYDRMORTY Council Member
You should have a delivery tomorrow.. ;)

I might have to stop by on my way down to see the progress in person, next Saturday... Except I am meant to be at a Wedding... :(

    Bam totally nuts dude.

How are you making the bends? Have you a brake that will handle that gauge steel?
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
I'm betting it has a lot to do with wood and a vice..
  • TerminusVoxTerminusVox Senior Wagonist
What have bam's bad habits have to do with it?
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
ha. rbw's right, though. I used a viSe.

I thought that was meat and a vice :)

I'm on a tear now. I'm ready to see this thing on its feet again!

    Cut out some frame/apron extensions

    633.jpg

spacers for the crossmember drops will tie into these plates (3/16" steel)

    634.jpg

mount is just barely tacked up there to give me an idea

    635.jpg

Note the forward end of that reinforcement hangs way out- that's about 3" beyond the bumper. Oughta give me a good foundation for whatever silliness I decide to add to the front. What I want is a plate bumper if I can build it light enough.

    Here's my sketch :)

    636.jpg

this is coming along really quick.

Um... Is that a rocket launcher on the side... like on an attack chopper? ...cause that would be sweet....
  • I thought it was a golf club and ball :/

Either that, or he's planning on playing Polo with the car...
  • turbo_tegturbo_teg Council Member
I cant wait to see this beast in the air
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
    Hmm, rocket launcher....

Naw, that's just a side view of the bumper.

Saturday fun: started out cutting parts from the donor to mount front crosssmember

    670.jpg

Those extended plates ended up getting clipped off, didn't work out. Partly because I wanted to have the stock bolt-on locations in case I have to run a traction bar.

    671.jpg

That took up a good part of the afternoon, then ZCPower_R came by in his SCed wagon. Good thing, too!

    672.jpg

see where the blower pulley is? 4" down from there...

    673.jpg

    that oughta clear it!
