    1015.jpg

not for this car actually, but for a friend.

    Game on!

    Got her back inside tonight.

    1059.jpg

and started dismantling to work on the front lift

    1060.jpg

I'm still not clear on how exactly this is going to work, but I have a couple of ideas. I've found that I just have to start cutting.

    let the front games begin
  • I love it, a Wagovan stump jumper, my question is will the drive line and half shafts be able to turn the larger tires without breaking, might want to check around to see if there are any stronger one that will fit.

It's a good question, but I'm not much concerned on that score. I've seen several RTs on here with more power and torque than I plan for. The trick is not to snatch on it. Shock load is what'll get ya. I'm trying to decide on a clutch setup to get the thing rolling

Of course, I have 4 trannies, 2 diffs, 2 drivelines, 3 sets of axles....

And the tires won't be all that huge, 29-30" diameter.
  • Subscribed... Bam always has the most interesting builds. Props for going where no other has trekked :D

Well, got started on the donor car. Cribbed it up as high as I could and began the demolition.

    71.jpg

funny how you can't take a picture of just ONE wagon around here

    72.jpg

    tuckin' 14's yo...

    73.jpg

Did some exploratory surgery- cut it deep and wide

    74.jpg

Dad's holding it up so I can get a visual

    75.jpg

Then I started marking up the real deal. Still some pondering to do before I fire up the saw on this 'un.

    76.jpg

I'm going to try and mold it all back together, so plotting the cut to use the existing metal.

scraping sounds like me up till 2 weeks ago.

Got sick of scraping going round corners.

I thought I almost had to get out and push in the church parking lot.

I'm looking forward to seeing this thing.

    Well come on then!

Got aa big pile of junk that needs to go back on the car

    126.jpg

And a redneck bamtech strut bar

    127.jpg

actually that's just a jig I threw together so as to be able to get the towers back in proper relation to each other- same distance apart etc.

So here we go, the big whack :?

    128.jpg

Gonna have to notch the frame rail a good bit to clear the UCA and strut

    129.jpg

but I think it'll all blend well.

    130.jpg

This is about as far as I want to go until I get the other side to the same point, then I'll confirm positioning and sew it all up.

    Trev,

You truly are the yoda when it comes to these wagons.

I never would of imagined all the stuff that could be done to them.

But seeing your work is awe-inspiring.

Keep up the good work bam!!! Any updates?
  • I can't remember if you ever came up with a solution to the crazy CV angles that you will get in the front. Are you gonna drop the engine and trans mounts down as well? Or is there some other solution in the works?

EDIT: never mind, i just found the answer to that. Page 3.
  • hey bam-bam . i joined up a few weeks ago . but we met back at summer i.a. last year before i bought my wagon . you were there with the camper . i was there with the eg 4door that looks mostly stock with the B16B gunmetal 4 door on the spoon sw388's and the itr 5lug swap .. dont know if you remember . but i was talking to you about getting a wagon . well i sold the sedan and bought one have a lot of work infront of me ...

and seeing your new project and your older ones gives me hope .. along with the other builds on here ... if you would message me where i can give you my number i have some questions to ask you .
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Thanks. No updates, spent the weekend working on other projects. I did have a good welding/fab consultation with Porterwagoneeer, though.

So, progress but not tangible results :)

    I want it!!!

i dont know whats scarier the fact that i have a 83 dodge rampage in my back yard and an eg shell as well .. or the fact some one beat me to an idea that i had been tossing around for about a year now that i see what it would look like im going for it lol
  • Looks like a very unique build, can't wait to see the finished outcome.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Well, I finally got some "me time" tonight. Positioned the left tower and started trimming the remaining metal to fit

    352.jpg

Put a few more tacks on this side as well, and started patterning the stiffener I'll use

    353.jpg

trans mount will weld to this plate 4" below the original location
  • this is what i like about bam's work.... he starts some thing, and then he FINISHES IT! Most people who would tackle this sort of problem would give up halfway, or at least get lazy and start cutting lots of corners. Good to see someone stick to it til the end.
  • bam my hats off to you .. im good but not that crazy lol if you need them i have some 15 inch bobcat tires there 30 inch tires and i can put 1000 bucks says you will never ever have a flat tire lol
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Hell, I have to finish it now. if I don't it's just a big pile of scrap with a big pile of my labor in it!

I didn't get to work on it much through the weekend, had other obligations. I did manage to get in a little more cutting and folding, roughed out a pattern for the shock towers.

    471.jpg

It's going to look crazy with them shaved down like that...I like it!

    472.jpg

This is the same piece folded backwards- it'll work for both sides :)

    473.jpg

That's going to look cool shaved down like that!
