Yeah, the more i study on it I think the spare may go on the roof. Hmmmm.

This week I've ordered a bunch of parts, would like to make strides this weekend.

Got new bearings, ball joints, rotors and pads for my EX knuckles, also Russell ss lines.

Hey bam bam, new here. Saw your ride at the new Kroger in Smyrna. Had the forum sticker on the car.

    Cool ride.

Thanks. Do you have a wagon?
I've seen a few unknown (to me) ones driving around lately.
  • 80honda80honda Band Wagon
No, don't have a wagon, I two Honda Elements.

Had a busy weekend at Bamtech. Since she's just about ready to fire up, it's time to spend a little money and start true assembly. I don't know if you can tell by the pics, but now the front is lifted another 2" via tophat spacers.

    234.jpg

I also installed the full ES polyurethane bushing kit up front. EX steering knuckles got new bearings, balljoints, rotors, pads, and Russell's stainless lines. 235.jpg

There's less than zero tolerance at this extension. My theory is that the weight of the powerplant will settle the suspension enough to allow steering! :)

I'll have the alternator and the front axles/ seals today, picking up the clutch tomorrow. I'm hoping to have the engine back in next weekend!

Just a note: the Diamond Racing wheels that I bought don't fit without grinding the caliper bracket. I supposea wheel spacer might work, but I don't like spacers.

damn you got a lot of work done after I left then.

I did not realize the calipers were hitting also.

This is why I don't think the 3" Spacers will work.. I am gonna get him to make me another set anyways..
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
You are correct, 3 inches won't work. (That's what she said!)

I'll let you know shortly if 2 will fly. FWIW, the tophat spacers I made are waaay easier and quicker to do than machined spacers.

    Nice bam very nice

Last. night we installed the flywheel, clutch, and transmission. Put on new alternator and belt, drilled and reinstalled the intake s-pipe. Painted the valve cover and some mounts, so it should be ready to drop in tonight or tomorrow...

Looks like it is coming along nicely. Hopefully I'll get to see it when I'm up in Atlanta in the fall for school.
  • oh man, the anticipation is building! I REALLY can't wait to see this thing complete!
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Well, it looks like I'll have to lower the front just a little. Dad and I set the engine in last night and pushed it out of the shop and back in (to settle the suspension). It's still making contact, darnit.

Modify the arm...go big or go home.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
    Heeheehhee...

I wonder if the Skunk2 upper arms offer enough adjustment to counter this? Later for that...

Right now I'm hooking things up.Shift cables, fuel lines, heater hoses etc. Got to finish the wiring harness too, getting tuned 3 weeks from today.

an someone show me a picture of stock exhaust routing? I'm unsure of where/how the pipe gets across the driveline.
  • 503Wagon503Wagon moderator
    Do it this way!!!

Looks like the contact is minimal. Could you not just grind the knuckle a little to give slight gapage?
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
I've already ground a good bit off, The amount that would have to be taken off to really clear would weaken the knuckle.

I'm going to try 1/2" less lift, see what that gets me. :(
  • Jimmy427Jimmy427 Band Wagon
extend the upper and lower .5 to 1 inch out off of the body.

Interesting, but no time for that right now. I have a deadline to meet!

Plus, when this is done we'll know how much one can lift the suspension and how.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
    Spent today hooking stuff up.

    386.jpg

It's all going to work, just takes a little extra time.

I was wondering the same thing. For some reason, I remember thinking it wouldn't work, but I can't remember why. Maybe i was thinking there would be too much positive camber, but then again, with that much lift I'm sure your camber is WAAAAYYY negative right now. I'm sure you could check out a couple name brand adjustable upper control arms, and most of them should tell you the range of adjustment. From what I could find real quick, the tuner series allows for 4 degrees either way, and the pro series allows 5 degrees either way.

Or you could just hack up another set of upper control arms and make custom extended ones. Or hell, hack up a set of UCA's and 2 sets of cheap rear camber adjusters and make your own set of adjustable UCA's!!!
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Well, now it has heater hoses, rear brake lines, more wiring work...
