Yeah, but really need to remove strut. It just picks the car up.
What about using the '88s LCA's they are the cup style, that the Strut sets into. Then find longer struts to modify to fit into place, to give you longer outward travel. I just got rid of a set
Or, we can investigate into the 86 & 87s.. and see if their gear ratio is the same as ours and ditch the independent rear suspension and use an axle with Spring & Shock combo VS our strut combo. Might be able to get more travel?? Would take away some of the clearance though.
Can you jack it up and put something under one rear wheel then lower it down to force the suspension to articulate?
Or will the front just lift without the weight of the motor etc?
Hmm, I haven't tried that. It probably would just teeter.
This project is getting pushed aside once again, though. My best friend's house, shop, and two trucks were badly damaged by a tornado last weekend, So I need to go work over there for a few weeks.
if i wasnt so far away i would come help too. ... but on the wagon have you thought about eg lower control arms there supposed to be longer at the bottom and and just extend the upper dog bone out to get more height . and use a traction bar kit for the front . as for the shocks machine out a steel or aluminum shock extension . so the shock can slide in to and be bolted down and the outer side can slide in to the suspension forks on the front and for the rear i guess cut extend and weld back in to place
I have all of the suspension completely figured out, it's already built!
EG lcas aren't even similar, and I have exactly ZERO ideas why I would have any use for '88 rear arms.
(i have a set... but why?)
RBW and I were talking about removing a strut to allow the RTA to travel without liftin the body, so as to see whether/how much to trim the wheelwell. That is all.
ah ok my only other thought was to take a ford old mustang rear end and narrow it a lil more since its a 4x100 bolt pattern and use jeep 4 inch lift kit springs . and make your own perches . . it was a thought lol
The 8.8 in the ford mustang that had 4 lug is 4x108 so that wouldn't work because he already has wheels. (I was going to try to use my pony wheels on the civic but they didn't fit)
*ford did have 4x100 but only in the escort and aspire which I don't believe were rear wheel drive. I believe bam can figure everything out if he hasn't already. (especially Photoshop for all those fake pictures )
seriously, it's been months since I took it apart, I don't remember. I do know that there's not one in the box of parts with everything else.
I just went and read a lot of mini-me swap articles, all say to remove the orifice from the non-vtec bottom end. Is that function provided for in the z6 head?
Using a6 block and z6 head you have to remove the oil jet. I don't know what exactly is going on up north in the z6 head but I do know that its required and works out just peachy so I do it, and don't think too much about it
z6 top and bottom......shoot if it had one in there to lose I'd get one back in there. Well either way, if you want me to send you one I will. Price would be free, and shipping would be.....in an envelope so...... free. Looks like you're past that point anyways! Can't wait to see more of this thing!

I really appreciate it.
There was no orifice, it's in the head. I was just doubting myself, I hate when I leave an engine disassembled so long. I've never fooled with a VTEC engine, and I'm just used to seeing the little jet. The fact that the block appears to be machined for one didn't help!
I got a little further along- hung the charger and started on the wiring
I'm still missing a few pieces of the JRSC kit. I'll have to order some goodies soon. Now I'm just getting it mocked up enough to test fit and weld engine mounts.
I've several other cash-hungry ventures pending right now, so this is about third priority

What in the world are you talking about?

You could probably use 88 style lcas or integra type r ones.
If you need something let me know, I know Ryan said your friends house had caught a tree.

I finally got a few free hours to work on the beast. I'm ready to get this thing on the road!
Block stuffed with .5 mm oversize/ .030 decked pistons. ARP head studs, ready for the head, but...
I don't know what I did with the oil control jet
but I did get the other project's engine primered-

Got a little more assembled tonight.
Now it's time to do some shopping for parts...
You should get the valve cover plated gold!
I really appreciate it.

Talk about boldly going where no man has gone before... Wow.
Captain Bam Bam Picard....
