Sorry for my extreme lazyness. Or forgetfulness. I think about this forum all the time at work but always forget to get on here when i get home. Anyways I'm buying a new(but very old 89) wagon rt4wd. its brown. with the manual 139000 miles. I'm pretty much just getting it for the driveshaft...lol but im not sure what to do with the rest of the car. I guess ill post it for sale on here for a week and if no one buys it ill just part it out. There is front end damage.. Needs a tierod end, LCA, Fender,Drivers door, Hood, bumper, and DS headlamp.
I told you I would buy it... I just have to go on a payment plan. LOL. I could fix that shit with my wagon that needs a motor, and not have to manual swap it... Come on EVAN!
so are u gunna use the the rt4wd driveshaft, rear diff, and rear axles? i think with a viscouse coupler 26 feet more travel in a mile wouldnt even hurt a dam thing i bet u can run it. hell for simpicity and the fact that rt4wd stuff is bigger i would almost prefer it over CRV stuff.
We were just talking about it. I think even if he wanted, difference in tire sizes could make up for the gearing. I told him to do some burnouts before he puts the driveshaft in.
Thats the plan. Gonna get the front Driveshaft shortened install and then take it out for a test drive when we have our next bad snow here. That way if the difference it to much and the car goes sideways there will be no damage to the drivetrain.
i bet youll be just fine. i swore i heard one time that some chevy trucks actually came with a 4.10 and a 4.11 gear ratio to make it so the front tires were pulling the rear tires around in 4wd.
I sure hope this works for ya it will prolly make more folks do the swap i think i may even convert the wagon back to rt4wd stuff (minus the crv tranny) for simplicity and having un-modified beafier axles...... if the CRV stuff fails
Yea i think a lot more people would be doing it if they knew for sure that it would work out. I have a 2000 s4 and i wear the tires down pretty bad sometimes before rotating and there never seems to be an issue.
Since the wagon does'nt see many miles i'll probably just leave wastegate as it is for now. Payed for the *new* wagon today! Idealone and I will be moving it over to his place tomorrow. Maybe we'll get some pictures up soon.
on this subject if anyone is searching for a drive shaft with VC i got it and i also have the rt tranny 5 speed needs rebuild grinds in second but its been that way for a year or two i dont need them hopefully soon as i get a hydro clutch ill be slapin in a 2000 5 speed crv tranny
Let me know
Thanks! i used to have blue ones in the gsr wagon. but sold them about 2 years ago.
The S4 is my daily driver and the new wagon... the brown one is a work in progress. it is an 89 with only has 130k miles on it and A/C. and it came with the passenger side mirror! also came crashed
not made yet. But i got the driveshaft (currently in the brown one). ill take measurements soon and hopefully have the funds to get it modified in the next 2 weeks.
awesome keep us posted all i need is the hydro clutch and im slapin in the crv trans i just need to know if were going to have problems with the gear ratio useing the crv tranny and the rt diff.
Read the last 2 pages of this guy's thread. He's done exactly what you guys want to do (in a Del Sol none-the-less). He seems genuinely concerned about some heat problems with his viscous coupler.
and i was kinda hopin to swap out the CRV diff in my wagon for a wagon rear diff becasue the axles are a lot bigger and i like the fact that the viscouse is a seperate unit from the rear end in wagons.....
you need that driveshaft asap evan. youve had this thing for way too long lol.
the s2k seats look good, you should show pics of how low they are mounted.
ya im going to get axles made, cause i want em beefy and ya useing the wagon diff seems like its simpler and less shit to get fucked up and ya im all about all time 4wd, keep me posted im really lookin forward to doing this swap!
uummm right....... Ok so i have the wagon for the better part of 4 years.... I'm hoping to drive it on the regular pretty soon here cause the heater fan in the audi is on the fritz and i dont it gonna work for much longer. And its really cold.
