So while waiting for block to be deglazed and cleaned, and my head to be shaved and polished I decided to play with some stuff I had thatdoodle help me get.
Thanks thatdoodle for helping me get these to me here in Germany.
I spent a few hours on this one flare today getting it to follow as much of the body lines as I can get. The real pain will be the rears. I have to find a way to make them fit so that the rear doors can still be opened and closed.
Oh and for NJ. My teins have one inch of drop left in the rear, and 3/4 inch in the front left (tires are 185/55/15). I had enough drop left in the front to actually put the mud flaps on the ground. However if I were to buy another set of coilovers I would look for some that had some kind of anticorrosion coating or something on them because I have one rear that took two hours to drop to that one inch. It is pretty much going to stay at the height it is now because I won't mess with it again.
Lookin good. Im not a fan of flares but these look like they going to work nicely. Thanks for the info on the coilovers. Im surprised that Tein SS dont have that anti-corrosion coating as expensive as they are. Im going to keep that in mind.
I am not a big fan of flares either but this seemed to be a cheap solution to my rear rust problem. If I can get these to fit right and fit well then I will cut the rusted lip out completely and treat heavily with some heavy duty rust paint. This will also allow me to run some wider wheels while also maybe giving a more aggressive look.
My coilovers are old and came in from Japan so I don't know exactly how old they are. I am sure the newer ones have the corrosion stuff as the threads are black now I think. All I know it is a pain and it is something for you to think about when purchasing a new suspension kit.
Man those flares are going to look so hot. I think im the only one looking at the big picture. I believe you when you said that 1 took a few hours to fit. Mine took a while to fit also and they aren't as complex in shape as those. I can't wait to see your finished product.
Well I will have to find some wheels to fit under the flares. Until then they will be fitted but not permanently. The VTI EG wheels I have definately won't fill that gap now.
So if anybody comes across a cheap set of sportmax or something else with a nice lip let me know.

Did you see the thread where I used an angle grinder to adjust mine??
The repalcement rings are about $15 each.
I've greased the hell out of them now and will use the power wash and then regrease them on occassion.
Those flares look uber.
They make me wanna run 225/55/15's with spacers
I think the turbos would look good on a stock body wagon but won't work for what I am doing. I have 4x100 to 4x114 adapters but still looking for some deep dish wheels. I might have to run some 15x9's with a low 10-15 offset
The wife and I took a walk through the military strip yard here, and we walked upon these wheels. It took me awhile to get them off because the lugs were on there pretty damn good but I finally got them off.
Not sure if I should polish them up and run them, or put new tires on the EG VTI wheels and run those. Maybe these are the ones thatdoodle wants and I send them to him.
Wow I thought only wagodizzle, thatdoodle, and NJ read my thread.
Dcmullis you can always hit me up with an offer but get in line because thatdoodle has his eyes set on these too
I am considering stripping them and polishing them up to see how they will look. We will see.
I was just kidding, I dont want to step on anyones toes. I didnt know someone already had dibs on them. You have a very nice wagon BTW, I really want to see what it looks like with finished flares.

The wife's muffler fell off this morning so this means I can finally order an exhaust for it. Something crazy like you and I talked about before.

What do you think of Ronal Turbo's ?

Decisions decisions.
BBS Look so sweet. Polish the lip and leave the centers like that. It would look good with the bullbar
you were out-numbered by me and NJ
