Rio Red RT4WD, building the dream...very slowly!

Here it is!
I've been looking for a rust free red wagon for about 3.5 years and after 18 hours of total driving I brought home THE UNICORN!!!
Since getting it home I only got a few things done. I went to the local junk yard to get a Canadian instrument cluster and stumbled upon some nearly mint CRX Si seats. Also installed my circa 2005 Alpine deck I had kicking around in the garage until I can buy something else. I replaced the door speakers with some MBQuartz as well.

Comments
coilovers
15 inch wheels
straight body with paint (probably next winter)
J's Racing replica front lip
D16Z6 turbo
Custom exhaust
rear seat and door panels re-wrap
new headliner
Wilwood 6 piston front calipers
maybe a rear disc brake conversion
all new suspension bushings
yellow high beams
Should be it for a while
I re-used the Wagon rails on both inner and outer parts. The inner had to have the rear mounting hole to the seat elongated a bit and that was pretty much it. The outer rails required a lot more work. I ended up drilling all the spot welds out and removing the front and rear mounts right off the rails. I bolted them to the seats and installed the seat to the car with only the inner rail attached to it. I then positioned the outer rail and tack welded it in place before proceeding to move the seat back and forth on the rails to make sure it was lined up properly. I took the seat out again and finished welding the outer rail and painted it. I also re-used the CRX plastic cover on the lever. It looks awesome and it's a lot more comfortable than the original wagon seat. I'm also really happy with the lower driving position

Another project I picked up during the week.
Here's a little something I picked up today...
Yes they are REAL Advan SA3R in 16 inch with Almost new Falken 452 tires. Hoping to have them on the car as soon as the suspension setup is ready.
As soon as I get my Tein Super Street coilovers I will be installing the wheels and take some pictures for you guys!
Got my U-joints from Rockford yesterday and I'm hoping to get them installed tomorrow or early next week. Also ordered some new tires since the Falkens had uneven tire wear and I didn't want to chance it with the AWD. I got a set of GoodYear Eagle GT coming my way in the next few days. All that's left now is to see if the rear forks are gonna be seized in the lower control arms...
Next is body work and then turbo!! Stay tuned.
The top of the bumper is shiny and I don't like it. I'll go back to stock wagon bumper with a J's Racing replica front lip as soon as I can find one.
I also found a bra for the front so I installed it at the same time.
Had some spare time to polish the car a bit during the week...
Keep up the good work!!
Went to the junk yard today to get a hood latch cable with a friend and we came across a 91 Wagon DX auto in red with grey interior. Needless to say I was like a kid at Christmas!!! I took the much needed front bumper, all the seats (nice grey velour as opposed to the hard fabric carpet mine has) I also took the A and B pillar trim with the regular seat belt to attempt a swap. I'm hoping I can get rid of the automatic seat belts.
I'll be putting my CRX Si seats up for sale with the custom wagon brackets on them soon.
Here's a pick of what the car looks like now and how much stuff I loaded from the junk yard today lol.
Getting close to paint and turbo I hope!
Exhaust broke right in the middle of the B pipe. I parked it in the garage and won't be looking at it for a few more weeks. Heading to Florida for holidays soon and I will start working on the bodywork and paint when I get back.
Here's a pic with my daily...
