My 89 swago build

I got my civic wagon a few months ago as a get me to work car while i do a motor swap in my 87 integra. I didnt think much of it but then one day it really grew on me. There is a local cruise night where i live on friday and saturdays that I started going to and was so surprised to see peolpes reaction when I rolled up in my wago. I have yet to see one where I live done up at all. Since I bought it for $300 I have been trying to get it really clean. I think the PO left the windows down and he lived on a dirt road when he parked it. I put a new main relay in and it runs great. burns oil but motor swap is in my plans of things to do. I just reseantly (sp) purchased a set of diamond racing wheels fronts are 15x8 with 38 offset wrapped in 195/50/15 and the rears are 15x10 with 12 offset with streched 195/50/15 I still have yet to lower it but I have some ebay coilover sleeves and a rear camber kit on there way. I enjoy this forum and love all of your guys crazy engineering on these machines and hope to contribute what I learn along the way on my wago journey. Now here are some picture of my whip.

I live more east by falcon. Kinda weird but I already had a 1st gen teggy lip for my car before I found that peoole use them for these. That will be going on shortly as well. I work with wagodan so the ideas are always brewing for modding or rides.

A idea I had that I wanted some opinoins on was I want to run a checkered flag decal on my roof like on the mini coopers? anybody seen this on a wago before? opinions?

when is this going to be slammmed
  • mr horsepowermr horsepower New Wagonist
I ordered the coilover sleeves to slam it til I can get some better full bodied coilovers but I would really like to get my trailing arm bushings replaced before I put the sleeves on just because I have heard that the sleeves will lower it more on a wago then the civic hatch they were made for. The problem I run into is if I lower the car and camber to clear the rear quarters if my bushings are shot dosent that effect my toe? I really dont want to camber and have my toe out of wack and eat tires up. Still looking into all the scenerios though. but short answer hopefully very soon.

Jus do it!! Tires r cheep!! haha

I would recommend toe adjusters for the rear if you are going really low. I would look at a rear camber kit as well. That way you can dial it in to where you really want your stance. Even though I think those wheels and the whole hella toiletflush trend is completely ghey.

Trailing arm bushings should be replaced as well. Easier to do it now while you will be in that area. See if you can rent the tool. I have one and it makes a not so fun job super simple.

hey pavementwago your car is the reason why I wanted diamonds. love your stance. I always am looking at your wotm thread drooling over such a clean car.

Thanks I wish I could say I did it first but I can't. Am happy I went with the other style though as I see almost everyone with the circles

It would be slammed but right now its lifted haha

Before I slam this thing there are a few parts I am going to collect like the extended top hats new trailing are bushing a driver side axle, upper ball joints, steering rack and outer tie rod ends. Once I slam it it probably wont be driven alot because the rings are shot and need to get my other motor swapped in. thanks wago dan. I kinda hit a stopping point til I get a few more bucks to make the repairs but Ill keep you all posted and thanks for the interest. it keeps me motivated to get work done.

just throwing this out there, are u gonna take off that muffler??
  • mr horsepowermr horsepower New Wagonist
Well today I attempted to put on my ebay coilover sleeves and big surprise they didnt work. We could have made them work but I have a family and dont want to take the saftey risk. So back to the drawing board and stashing some money away to do it right with a full bodied coilover. I wouldnt recamend those ebay pos to anybody the aluminum sleeve felt like a pop can and the collar wouldnt tighten up.

well Ive been looking it some godspeed type rs coilovers. I was wondering what you guys thought of them. I read in the post your suspension thread that justin-xxx runs them and gave them a good review. but was wondering what youlls two cents on them was?
  • PavementwagoPavementwago Senior Wagonist
Well I have the ss ones and they good. I up the front to the 10k and I like it. But I do have a b series so ya.

    OK suspension please lol.

motor swap this weekend and if they come in the mail on time lowered next weekend. I am allitle sceptical about lowering it though. Ive never owned a lowed car and put my front tow hook to hang about 3" off the ground and I scrap everywhere. but if I dont like it I can always change it.
  • PavementwagoPavementwago Senior Wagonist
Well sure it will work. Not sure about the muffler. IMO should change it. But ya which coils did u go with
