Poo, so DA8 rear trailing arms wont work unless i do that spindle swap, which is still possible, but annoying.Might have to go source spare trailing arms and try put them on before i rip mine to bits.
I also have a crazy idea to raise the rear subframe, if you lower the back quite a bit the rear subframe will be about 50mm off the ground amirite? Or is there another car's subframe that you can replace it with?
Might be getting another shuttle next week, why? For pure win, that's all
Recently sold the AK shuttle to a friend, will see if he joins up and plays build thread with us
But as of late, nothing much more has been done, removed the knuckle off DA rear hubs... well got 1 off no problem, but the torx head on 1 bolt got mashed up so have to weld a nut onto the top and get it off that way I think.
But decided to flick off my B16a1 and put in a D16A I have sitting round instead, b16 has done about 180000miles, and the d16 has done 40000miles. Pretty much wanted to keep the shuttle and economy beastie but still remaining tidy.
Picking up my EF8 brake booster and master cylinder soon to install in the shuttle along with the DA8 hub swap. Complete the brake upgrade in a weekend then move onto sorting out converting it to EFI (Oh I also picked up an EFI shuttle petrol tank too). Will have to investigate more on the wiring side of thigns for the EFI swap.
Pic from a couple weeks ago, as you can see nothings really changed. Made up some extended tophats to help lower the car a little more. Putting front shock perches on the rear shock, so instead of being a cup, the spring perch will sit lower than the perch notch bit. Hopefully lower the rear by another 2 inches. Just have to figure out a trick way to lower the front more without cutting
OK, here's my theory. Since you can extend tophats, why not extend perches too?
For the front shocks, IS it possible to extend the front perches along with tophats to suit? I dont want to cut springs and *in theory* my plan should work in dropping the spring physically lower to then lower the car while keeping perfect ride quality as standard suspension.
For the rears it's a similar plan, put some spare front perches on a shuttle rear shock. So instead of being a cup and having the the spring sit an inch above the perch locking point, the front perches sit an inch lower than the perch locking point thus would amke the rear spring sit 2 inches lower than it is now. Mated with 2" extended tophats which I already have waiting.
It should make it a sweet ride height while keeping shock travel and allowing the spring to no be modified.
The reason why I want to do this is that I have engineering friends that can do this all for em cheap as hell, and if I blow a shock to pieces then a replacement will be easy, or I can upgrade to nicer shocks if they come around for cheap (Such as coilovers) and I already have the extended tophats to help keep the same height and shock travel etc.
And adding a picture for my proposed ride height :P
User 666Dan owns the old wagon now, gotta wait for more pics from him. But a do have 3 more from the same night.
Tips of lowering:
Rears are DC2 front springs.. but cut (pretty sure)
Fronts have had torsions wound with wheel nut instead of normal torsion nut. Better to re index though.
Better to look on here, friends shuttle/old shuttle
Well depending on what shock you have. Some shocks have a 'seat' thing for the spring perch to sit on... so you don't need to weld them to the shock. Others have the ability to have a c-clip machined lower, others however have the perch welded on (Most likely before filled), but I'm unsure how you would mod perches that are welded...
It's been a while, not really much has happened, but thought I'd give you guys an update to at least a few things I've been doing and finding.
First up, a few goodies to be installed very soon, speaker pods for the rear and also a wind deflector for wiper blade Also got some front mats in mint condition except a little dirty, so in the process of waterblasting those bad boys (Gave them a hose down, clean.. but still brown from dirt)
Got some free white DC2 Fat Fives and chucked them on after some very needed new tyres and a balance!
And also, I managed to get some nudge bars and flood lamps for the lols... but actually I really like it. Still looking for fog lights to add to it and maybe roof racks, but dont really want to clutter everything
Havent lowered it anymore, been spending money on my EK religiously...
Fat fives look good, personally I dont like the nudge bar much man. Are you taking this to the next meet? We need to get some more pics of the shuttles together
Going to manfield this saturday to watch colgateam race, then sunday ill be working on EK, get the subframe back on and steering rack all sorted. and potentially all the hubs back on too
Your speaker pods look different to mine, I odnt think mine have the seatbelt cutouts.
How do you keep all the stuff under the car? all my parts/stuff ends up everywhere haha.
Also I have a spare facelift bumper if your interested. flick me a Pm
Post a pic of your speakers? I'm interested to see what they look like.
And those parts you see.... the rest are under the house, around the corner out of sight, in the shed at my flat, all inside the EK and in the boot of the shuttle....
Hmm, might have to hit you up about the bumper, going to NIMM? could get it then perhaps if I do buy it?
I have 2 shuttles and a garage full of crap haha
I'll dig up the grills and get some pictures tomorrow.
I'd like to go to nimm but don't think i'll have the intrac finished by then. (cant go in the vs)
Got some nicer pics of my car at friends place in the weekend. They look amazing! Can't really say I have an update of doing anything to it... Uhhh I gave it a really quick wash?

I love this pic. makes me want to fix up my 3g. Do you have any tips on how i can lower it?
yeah this old wagon is awesome. Got anymore picture of it?

Annnnd cheers for standing me up on Sunday!!
Not sure yet, have to see if the woman has to pick up her parents in it.
Although bringing the shuttle would show off the new bits :P And we could have shuttle crew rollout

WOW!!!!
That is sexy! Great collection you have.
Here it was in all it's glory before I started doing serious work on it
Here's how it's sitting as of last weekend, it's a secret to what I'm doing to it :P
