Can't wait to pull off the front bumper and replace the janky as F*** bumper mounts.
ditto....
side note. wagon down right now lol. ignition cylinder is effed in the a. tried for a half hour to get it out today and came up dry...it really shouldn't be this hard lol. buddy is coming over saturday to help me out so i dont break something because i got frustrated lol
looks like i'll be getting the ignition cylinder switched out saturday with the help of a buddy. i dont know why i cant get this...i think im slightly tarded...sigh
Well Saturday was a pretty good day on the car. Erik3 and i started playing with dry ice and removing the factory sound deadener.
We started on the passengers side.
We used a chisel and a 3lb mallet and chiseled away. i would recommend using roughly 20-30lbs of dry ice to do the whole front part of the car. you can never have too much on there. the more dry ice you have on the colder it gets. the colder it gets the easier it is to chip off.
we got the passengers side done and the spots under the rear seats all taken out as well. all that is left is the drivers side floor.
Now i was time to figure out why my ignition was so screwed up....
My problem was really simple. When i turned the key to the first click or accessory 1, nothing happened. The radio should come on, but there was nothing. When i turned the key to the second click or accessory 2, i got the radio but no dash lights. Then i would turn the key to the start position and the car would start rev up and then as soon as i let go of the key it would die. I played with it a bit and figure out i could start the car and then hold the key just past the second accessory position and keep the car running, but i literally had to hold the key forward but not too far as to make the starter engage...it was a pain in my ass getting the car the 10 miles home i had to drive when it died on the freeway lol.
We figured maybe the ignition lock cylinder jumped forward somehow and just needed to be replaced. Picked up a lock cylinder from local auto parts store and literally spent an hour trying to get the old one out...if ANYBODY knows how, please chime in cuz we gave up...
I had a skunk2 switch panel and push button start laying around, so we said screw it and installed that
first thing we did was cut out the ignition wiring.
once we got that out we extened all the wires about eight inches and added eyelits on the end so they could be connected to the switch panel. I soldered all the wires and wrapped them in electrical tape, i dont believe in ghetto connectors.
once we got all that done all we did was bring up the ignition wire diagram and wired the first switch to control radio power. so flip one switch and i get radio only (like accessory 1 click on the ignition)
then we wired the rest to the actual ignition switch (the one with the red cover) once you lift the cover and click it up you get dash lights and power to everything else. (like accessory 2 on the ignition)
Then its just a push of the start button and boom car fires up! i have it temperorly mounted here until i get more time to actually make it a clean mount.
still need the key to be in the ignition lock cylinder and turned to accessory 2 so the steering wheel does not lock.
Hit up a Junk yard in the area and picked up some DA stock suspension. Hopefully i can pick up some dirt tires here in the next few months and get the wagon raised up before winter is over so i can have some fun....still looking to track down the 4WD conversion....not so easy.
also got some window bars for the wagon. gonna see if i can make them fit on a newer wagon. i dont know if it has been done or not, but i figured i'd try.
As soon as you get dirt tires and raise your car let me know. I heard there was a logging road that runs fom camas to yacolt burn that's fun for rallying on. My brother in law has maps of all logging roads for hunting. I can't wait till it snows a little so I can go get nuts. I thought I was the only one who thought it would be fun to have two diferent suspension setups one for sumer and one for winter. Pm me for possible 4wd conversion.
Thanks. I was wondering about that cuz all the ones I've seen have been painted.
I'll get pictures up later tonight but I got my speaker pods installed last night and all of my wiring ran. Their pretty nice now people who sit in the back seat can hear music instead of just bass haha.
Next up is seeing if window bars can fit and look decent in a 91. Oh and finishing the removal of the factory sound deadening.

i hadn't intended to have to rebuild one haha. but this one kind of fell into our lap and was free. and everybody likes free.
this takes forever.
