it sounds good but it runs like shit. i cant track down the problem. im pretty sure its in limp mode. i still have some twerking out to do but at least its kinda drivable.

That is a beautiful motor... That thing is going to roast cars... Nice build man.. Keep it up..

Not sure if it's the exhaust but to me it sounds like you need a valve adjustment.
Also, are you running a 4wire o2 sensor? Or just the standard o2?
What codes are you throwing? Check with motor running and again without the motor running.
  • That ticking sound your hearing is my header tinging the craddel. I notched it out some but once the motor mounts set in it barley hits. And only every now and then. I currently don't have an o2 in because the harness is wired for a 2 wire but the motor requires a 4 wire. I'll have to splice the o2 into the ecu, but that wouldn't cause the car to run like it's running.( i don't think ) I tried to pull codes but didn't work....since my tach isn't working I think the problem is in the dizzy.
  • You need the 02 sensor in there, the ecu will either go into limp mode or not give the correct fueling making it run badly

The o2 sensor is the problem. If you dont have an o2 than your car is gonna run like s***
  • nope the o2 isnt the problem because the rywire chipped ecu has a bypass for the o2. it was the harness i was using. i used my stock d15 harness and wired it in. car runs great. im gonna fix the exhaust and weld it up then ill have a vid up of it running.
  • got my exhaust welded up and shift linkage fixed!

Rims look dope. What shift linkage did you use for your B swap?
  • looks like you got the big valve b20 based off the tall dip stick and heat shield. head should have the casting number p8r to be sure. as for the sleeves being thin, they are however our last b20v survived a whole race season on a 100 dry shot with no issue on a stock bottom with just arp equipment. also noticed your from indianapolis....i just moved here in avon and would love to get up with more fanatics. as for the linkage question, i cannot say what the OP used but hasport among other companies make the correct linkage for the swap. you can also shorten a set of DA linkages to work. length depends on what mounts but it seems ive shortened most by 1.25"....if you use the older place racing mounts (unsure of new style) you shorten by an inch.
  • yeah im in indianapolis but getting ready to head to texas for a month or so for the holiday. but ill be back up here before spring time, we could hook up or something, you need to come downtown to 31 and see everyone out cruising. im using da shift links, LS tranny, hasport motor mounts. i dont plan on running anything major on this motor because its my daily. cold air, header, exhaust, thats it. id like to clean my bay up some but working on getting suspension for it right now.

Nice! I plan on doing this swap in the future and learned a few things from this build thread. How does the b20 feel in the wagon?

Nice wagon. Just curious, is that a B20B9? When I got my B20 it looked exactly like that--with the long dip stick, giraffe mani, upper heat shield and crazy PS brackets. Yours is the only other one I have seen.

Also does it have a P8R head?
  • lilROOKZlilROOKZ Wagonist
its a B20B with P75-3 head. im not sure what you mean by b20b9. motor is out of a 2000 crv

Just wondering because my block stamp is B20B9 and was from a Honda SM-X, but it had all the same accessories like yours. Mine's from overseas. Just thought maybe yours was too.

  • Nice... Plan on going vtec any time soon... I will probably make the upgrade after summer after i smog it again.
  • lilROOKZlilROOKZ Wagonist
@ WagonClaws im not really sure where im doing with this motor, power wise. probably keep it as is for right now while i worry about the other little things. Ive got a Mishimoto half length radiator with fans and Inovative shift linkages because mine are really sloppy because the bitch pin on theme is messed up and the bushing is junk.

    @eh3 no mine's not stamped with a b20b9
