  • Yep will have a few hours work once I get it home tomorrow after work but should get it mostly done. Should be at Taupo about 9am.

Will still need to make some brackets to fit the filler peice to the bumper perfectly but thats minor, will do it after NIMM.

Take a half day off work? Then you have more time to get it back together
  • Ive just had the last 3weeks off on a course, cant quite swing another half day I think

Haha don't think the boss would be too happy with that. You'll be thinking of the car all day anyway so its worth a try

Looking very nice, pretty fancy radiator and fan!
  • Well picked it up at 4:30 this afternoon and its now 10pm and apart from Half an hour picking up the GF from work and an hour going out for dinner I have been in the garage.

Had to modify the radiator to fit (cut off brackets) replace the thermostat (after I did the radiator I filled it up and tested it but the thermostat didnt open :( ) fitted all parts removed for paint but ran out of time to make some brackets to make the filler panel fit perfectly.

So tomorrow morning at 6am I need to wash the car as its covered in dust from the paint shop then Im on the road!

Only got one pic sorry, straight after I picked it up:

  • Good to meet you yesterday dude!
Car looks even better in person than it does in the pics
  • Your car looked fucking amazing in the flesh! Good to see the wagon turnout yesterday :D
  • Thanks guys/girl. Still some fine tuning to do as Im sure you noticed with the front bumper but all the hard work is done. Very stoked with what it has turned into.
I think engine wise its basically done now, it ran really well on the day and fuel consumption is way down on what it used to be when it was running shit.

    Nicolla, where was Frank?
  • Looked good from where I was standing..n stalking :)

Frank was at home, I hitched a ride down with a friend. Lost my main source of income on wed so trying to take it easy for now. Missed him like crazy tho!

Maybe your wheel could have fallen off too if you bought it down :P

Love your build. I am trying to do few things you have done to your shuttle but awaiting a reply on a bull bar with piaa fogs and roof rails, rear storage bin, rain guards for doors, steering wheel and few other rare shuttle parts from a contact in japan.

I am new to a wagon and waiting for it to arrive. Will post my pics and tread once i get my wagon.
  • Thanks but I havnt "done" those things to mine, they are factory and not really considered rare.
I would avoid the steering wheel as they are pretty thin and arnt very nice to hold onto

Thank you for the info. I am looking forward to picking up few of those items my self. I wish i had access to some auctions. I know there is other places besides ebay. I wish i knew where else i can buy stuff.
  • No real updates but heres a couple random pics from last weekend:

I love the Wagon but your DB8 is just a little more beautiful! ahaha

    gorgeous colour!

but... is that a ding under the c-pillar in the last picture? :P
  • It sure is! that bit didnt get painted so the rear half of the car is not perfect.
Couldnt justify/afford a full panel and paint so just touched up the worst bits.

The DDF applies (Distance Distortion Factor) the further away you are the better it looks, or good from afar but far from good. etc

Im happy with it though as its still better than it was

i see, i thought it was a full respray and someone already opened their door into your car :P
looks really good though, i love this shade of blue.
  • Dont even get me started on people who cant open their door thoughtfully. Integra has a 300mm (12in) crease in the passengers front door some some inconsiderate person

The blue on the shuttle is just a very faded factory colour (B37M), took a bit of work to match as it is normally much darker. I prefer it how it is though

The more i look at it the more i want it. How do you like that long mirror? Any pics of it in your car and how its installed. Hate to cut my headliner but i love the look of it.
  • There is a pic further back in the thread of it installed, you dont have to cut anything. Many people on here have them in their wagons so there is a few threads about installing them. I chose to keep my sun visors (legal requirement) so made some custom brackets from 3mm Ali. Basically just a "L" bracket.
I can get some close up pics of the brackets if you would like.

As for how I like it, it does vibrate a little at speed making it difficult to make out details of whats behind you but other wise I love it
  • Cars looking sick. love the colour and the wheels wouldnt normally be my thing but they look sick on your car.

btw i think you stole my dog

  • Thanks, wheels were a spur of the moment thing, a bidding war that got out of hand but I think they work a lot better than I thought they would.

Ha, look at that, very similar dogs. My one broke its hip last year(snapped the ball off the leg bone bit after falling off a second story deck onto a concrete driveway) but has pulled through well for a 11year old dog.
  • thats a massive fall for a little dog. they are almost the same age too haha

I looked through the thread and I didn't see the install pics of the mirror... am I just missing it or what?
