I have not! Just watched it. The wrap looks super good. I don't know a ton about wraps but I could see it being a pain to take off if you have it on for years getting beat on by the sun. I wonder if it's something that should be taken off every couple of years. What happens if you want to do your jambs too? With all the little crevices I see that being difficult. Plus you gotta take the doors off if you wanted to go that route. Going that far you might as well paint everything. At the end of the day it could be just as costly as a paint job! When you get your car painted just try to do as much as you can yourself. I'm sure it will save you a ton of money.
First time in about a month that was able to work on the wagon. I have been working on everybody's car minus my own haha. Sourced 4 doors and a hood. Will be using the hood for my wagon which is in very good shape other than 2 dents. That has been fixed and primed. The doors I will be using the guts from and keep the shells. If anyone wants them they are available once I'm done with them! I'm really shooting for next week to get her painted if I'm not slammed at work. Lets see.
For sure. I’ll use the carbon hood for special occasions!
Wasn't able to do much to the wagon this weekend but I did get to refinish the lenses on the rear lamps. Shaved the little numbers with 1000 grit on a DA used a 1000 grit and grey scotchbrite (I think ultra fine) on the rest. Looks like new! Just need to shoot some trim black on the rest of it.
What do you use to cover the holes? I'm looking at some of the wagon bumpers with huge intercoolers and wonder what they use for molding (see: bisi's wagon).
It’s a flexible bumper patch used with a 2 part epoxy that’s flexible. The epoxy is self leveling so your going to Atleast need to go at it with 2 coats of the epoxy and a final swipe with bondo to tie everything in. Bisi definitely cut up a bit higher on his bumper cover in order to fit that massive intercooler. I just cut out the fins on the lower grill. Attached is a link on the process of using the patch.
i wish it was like that here in Illinois we need the front plate, but i can always relocate the front plate somewhere if i do decide to do this to the wagons.
@Vtec_Shuttle we have the same law here in WI but I just keep my plate in my car and plan on saying my front plate mount just got damaged and I have another one on order if I ever get pulled over. Ive been driving for 4 years w/o one and haven't gotten pulled yet so I don't know if that will work but I'm hoping I would just get a fix-it-ticket or warning.
Got some time today to fit the lip. Pretty ok fit. It will look good with a rubber seal around it.
And my daily got rammed into. The detailer at work backed into it and didn’t tell anyone. Thankfully we had some cameras and caught him in the act. That honestly bothered me more than the accident itself.
@SPW that lip looks good specially how you installed the hardware definitely won't come off even if you tried, I wouldn't of even noticed the little corners if you didn't show them haha, wow that's shitty specially they didn't say anything that makes it worse, makes them look like an A55H01E. did the video show him stop or get out to check the damage or did he really not know he hit your car?
Thanks! Clip nuts rock. There is like a million other things that will come off before this lip haha. Maybe an over kill ? I’m trained to look at casting marks when we get new bumpers at the shop. They have to get sanded down before we paint them. It’s a part of me now haha. Yea that’s what bothered me the most. He claims he didn’t see any damage he also claimed he was going to tell me. Two different stories going on. Video clearly shows him staring at it a good 10-15 seconds. Plus my car moved about half a foot so there is no way he didnt notice. Unfortunately for him he was let go. I believe he has to pay the detailing company back for the damages done to my car. Sucks for him if it’s the route they went because it’s a 4k repair with the quarter panel being replaced. Plus rental which will be another 500. Feel bad for him but you have to own up to your mistakes no matter how bad they may be.
I see the wagon is coming along nicely! Sorry to see your daily in there too! Question for you....what is the repairability (is that a word??) of the stock bumpers? My front has some dents (no tears or cracks). Wondering if the areas can be somehow leveled and filled? What product would you use for that?
It does suck. It’s getting fixed and not at my expense so no big deal. They aren’t to bad too fix. Only thing is the minute you sand it the texture will be gone. Unless you get a new one I don’t see their being any way to mimic the texture. But I would try to hit it with a heat gun from the back of the bumper and pop some of the dents out of they are that bad. Heat it to the point when you put your hand on top it will burn a little than get a wooden hammer and use the wood part to straighten out the plastic. Plastic is pretty forgiving. Sometimes you can get away with just sanding it down with 80G too get your high spots out. Almost using that 80G as a grinder. If that can’t be done attached is a link of what you should use to fill in the dents and the steps. You shouldn’t use Bondo but I think you should be ok to use it to finish off your work. These bumpers don’t flex a ton you should be able to get away with it. Plastic gets super hairy when you sand it with anything under 120G. Make sure you move up with sand paper before you prime. (80, 120,180 and 320). Even then you might need to prime it twice. Just depends how it sands after your first prime.

those doors look mint, cant wait to see everything painted
They do look mint. Haven't taken a really good look at them but they do have some tiny dents. Hopefully we will see some paint very soon!
Blacked out window frames. Needed to be primed before laying some paint down. I used SEM Trim Black Ultra. Looks great with the wheels!
looking great
Did you decide not to use the carbon hood?
Thanks!
I will be using it. I wanted a hood that matched the car too. It’s nice to have options haha.
Options are good to have
For sure. I’ll use the carbon hood for special occasions!

Wow, those look great!
yeah that looks great they look brand new great work, looks like i have something to add to the list haha
Thanks! They shrunk back a little but it’s not too noticeable.
They do I like them a lot! Time to do the corners and bumper lights. Definitely do so. Looks awesome.
Did some work to the front bumper this week.
I did that to my 97 civic covered the front holes for the license plate looks way cleaner
What do you use to cover the holes? I'm looking at some of the wagon bumpers with huge intercoolers and wonder what they use for molding (see: bisi's wagon).
A lot cleaner. Good thing it’s not required to have a front plate in Florida!

That’s a bummer. I’m sure there is a way to mount the plate without needing to have holes in the bumper.
eBay lip came in the other day. Great quality. Let’s see how well it fits. Going to shave the casting marks, prime it and than trim black it.
that's a nice looking lip looks like a factory lip
Ebay EF Si lip?

Yes I like it too. Not too huge.
Yes I did buy it off eBay I believe it is the Si Lip.
Work has been slammed. Haven’t had a chance to get the wagon sprayed. Just collecting dust waiting for a booth.

4k in damage yikes at least its going to get fixed at no expense to you
Snooping daily for updates.... shhhhhhhhh
True! Things could always be worse. Speaking of the daily, quarter panel is fitted and ready to be welded.
Hahaha wish I could offer more. I’m too beat by the end of the week working on everyone else’s cars to work on my own stuff unfortunately.
Some stuff painted. Looks pretty straight!
