Congrats on getting your coilovers and getting them on. Even though I ended up going with a set of Godspeeds I'm curious to read your review of this budget system. I am hoping to get my car dropped this weekend. Also looking forward to seeing what wheel selection you made. Mine will be here tomorrow and I'm pretty excited.
I haven't made a wheel selection yet, still looking around and probably wont get anything till around the end of June.
The coilovers are Rokkor's, they are for a CRX. They are good for going low, but the ride isn't the best. They are pretty bouncy, especially on the highway.
So, I bought some tires tonight. Brand new 205/40R16's, they are Falken 512's. Brand new with valve stems still wrapped up for $275, I think I did pretty well on these. Now to order wheels
I'm sure some tophats will help with the ride. Lets get some wheels on that bad boy!
I have some extended hophats already, and I raised the front about .5" and it rides alot better, also lowered the back as low is the coilovers will let me.
I know! I've been wanting wheels since I got the car. I'm stuck between two styles that I really like, just don't know if I really want to worry about 0 offset since it is my daily driver
Wheels are ordered, hopefully they don't take too long to get here. They were kind of spur of the moment decision, I was trying to stay away from 0 offset, but after reading over Pavementwago's thread I decided to go for it. Plus, since this is my beater I figured what the heck haha
got my wheels on and pulled the fenders. After I did, I pulled out of my driveway to move it and I thought that the tires were rubbing hard. Turns out that my car is lower than it was on the stockers, and I'm dragging flaps now. lol Let me know what you guys think!
They are xxr 530's 16x8.25 +0 offset. Sorry for the crappy pictures, had to upload from my phone since the cord to connect my camera to computer isn't working.
Since I got some new wheels, it motivated my brother to lower his wagon. I went home for the weekend and we did a photoshoot today with both of our wagons, here are the pictures that we got.
^^^This is my favorite so far. He keeps sending me more pictures lol
To be honest, the ride isn't the best. You get what you pay for in this situation, the Rokkors are good for going low, but the ride suffers. The suspension is very stiff, but I don't mind it really. I have ridden in many dropped mini trucks and it rides pretty similar, bouncy.
i almost ordered the chromium black 530s for my wagon the other night! i love yours! i was gonna go 15x8.25 +0 but seeing yours I'm considering 16s what size tires are you running?
So, I finally got around to painting the letters on my flaps. Gold of course. It definitely adds a subtle touch of color.
The color ended up being very close to the color of the wheels. I'm working on another little project, hopefully I can finish it up soon and it will fit the way I want it to.
I hit a big pothole going around 20-25MPH, everything is still driving well, but it probably knocked my alignment out some. I think it made something in my suspension settle some more, I'm dragging my exhaust more and the flaps on the passenger side are dragging the ground more so something has settled more lol.
I did however find an old Civic CVCC on my visit to see my fiance in Washington D.C. in the National Museum of American History.
No, I haven't noticed anything. I have heard of people having problems with that, so I have been paying attention. I'll know for sure when I get it up on stands and the wheels off if anything is hitting. Whenever I have the chance to do so I will post pictures. I'm thinking that it is because I still have the stock upper control arms, the aftermarket/adjustable ones have the adjustments on the top of the control arm correct? If so, that could make them thicker than the stockers, just a theory, I have no way of proving this lol
Just for information purposes, lilghost and I both have adjustable control arms and they hit the inside of the shock towers on large bumps/bridge connectors at our heights.
Yeah, I haven't noticed anything hitting. I drive interstate every day, but no large bumps, I try to avoid those if possible. When I hit the pothole I don't remember feeling the control arms hit either. Just looked up spring rates also, don't know much about them but this is what I have: Front – 350 lbs/inch Progressive, Rear – 250 lbs/inch Progressive.
I didn't hit when I had stock upper control arms, it's just the thicker/taller design of the arms that cause them to hit. The sliding balljoint is maybe an 1/8th of an inch or so above the arm itself, but that area has more clearance so it doesnt really hit.

and yeah, the rear will be going down at some point soon.
