Extreme Makeover: Hatchie Edition *updated 16 MARCH '10*

well guys, not sure if anyone remembers my little red hatchback, but here is a little back ground on it. this my third time writing this fricking post because the other two got erased, stupid idiot bastard computers, anyways, so its going to be short.

well i bought it in Dec. '05, sold it to my friend Brian (readygreddy) in Apr. '06. he blew the engine about 20K miles later, so car has been sitting since, for about a year now.

well a friend of ours has now bought it from Brian and is going to have us completely restore it, also dropping in a B16A. its going to awesome, this is pretty much a dream come true for me and Brian as it was killing us watching the poor car just sit there, but neither of us had the funds to do anything about it. well, now we do.. so BEHOLD, Extreme Makeover: Hatchie Edition!

i'll keep you guys posted on the progress, and now on to some pics.

    UPDATE:

went ahead and ordered the engine last night..

    JDM B16A DOHC VTEC goodness.

also went to the junkyard and picked up an '89 gauge cluster with Tach, clock (yay!) EX spindle and hub (only pass. side so far, lulz..)

tomorrow night the following will be ordered:

    -HKS full catback exhaust
    -Skunk2 full coilover suspension
    -Rhino camber kit set
-ZERO Racing 15x7" rims in Gold
    -Kumho Escta AST tires 205/50/15

    and eventually..

    -JDM Si-R front end conversion
    -bunch of random interior junk.
-whatever else needed: battery, intake, etc etc etc.

    looks like a sweet project...

How much are those things going for ?

I got the impression from other places that a whole bunch of ZC's, trannies and axles might be worth something in the USA, problem is getting things shipped :?
  • i HOPE you got the LSD also :D
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
    nope :(

haha its too late, motor has been ordered a week ago.

    tisk tisk...sluffin!
  • It's getting harder to import JDM EF's into the UK. The supply is drying up and mileage on them is tending to get a bit higher.
A full B16 swap over here with say 120,000miles on goes for about £500 so $1000ish.
That's axles, all wiring, ECU, perhaps the speedo. Only thing you'd need to add is mount for your D chassis and shipping.
    Shipping being expensive.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
the engine we purchased came with mounts, axles, ecu, shift linkage and free shipping ;)

mileage on it is about 40,000

    183.jpg

also got the HKS catback in, since we didnt have the rubber mounts at the time we used this ghetto setup :P its all temp. till we get them (just hardly have time right now)

its been a while so i figured i would update. it seems the guy who owns the car now got cold feet, so the project will be handed over to me. at least i get my first car back now :D going to pay him $150 for it. this includes all the "new" parts we(that is, I have put in)

    -door
    -Si body colored mirrors
    -gauge cluster with tach
    -civic wagon bumper
-EX spindle (still need the other side, haha)
    -engine bay paint job

the car still needs the following:

    -windshield
    -hood
    -drivers side fender
    -headlights
    and of course,
    -engine
eventually it will need seats because the front ones are disgusting.

my plans are to put the hatch in my back pocket and leave it there till i get a B16A swap for the wagon, then use the waggies D15A6 (d15b2 with a6 mpfi) engine in the hatch. also i'll be getting EDM headlights from ragenasian soon and will use the waggies stockers in the hatch.

cosmetically i plan on repainting the car the stock milano red with Si-R styling by painting the mirrors, door handles and bumpers. will repaint the roof in white, and possibly the hood and then get black vinyl squares for the checkered pattern (yes im keeping it :D).

for wheels i plan on using the wagons stock steelies painted in white.

for suspension im going to get some cheap shocks and use my Eibach sportline lowering springs.

for exhaust i'll either use this extra turbo box i have and make a custom catback, or imma get a stock used system from the junkyard.

interior i plan on redoing the headliner with some cool cloth, kinda like Billboard did (i hope Bill doesnt mind) and also the would-be cloth inserts on the door panels. then maybe find some clean cloth sedan (or hatchabck, if im lucky) seats at the junkyard (there are plenty of them for the sedan).

anywho... so far i have gotten this awesome little "mod"..haha first item that i have had to pay for for this car =)

    210.jpg

so guys... let me know what you think... and TALK ME OUT OF IT!! jk jk.. haha -peace

sick build dude, it looks like its going pretty good so far.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
picked these cargo comparment trays, as they are called, for the hatch. still needs the hard cargo cover though, which wasnt at the junkyard. paid $10 for the set. also grabbed some OEM Honda rear speaker covers with the "Honda" engraved in them :P those were included in the trays price 8)

anyways, just getting these little odds and ends. they look blue in the photo, but they are infact charcoal gray. quite minty too :D

you should include a price sheet for the work you've done.

I owned a little red DX, but I blew the motor in it as well =( Then I had it stolen from me =(x2

I approve this project in remembrance of my DX =)
