No battery light?

Rather than clog up the alternator rebuild thread, I'll start a new one...

When I replaced my alternator last year (I know, I know, what can I say, I was in a hurry and needed the car immediately) my dashboard battery light stopped working - the very light that told me my old alternator had died. It doesn't turn on when I first turn the ignition on the way it's supposed to. I installed the replacement exactly like the original, plugged everything in and all that. It charges just fine, but I'd like to have that light back to warn me when this one eventually bites the dust. What should I check?

    The LED bulb.

Pull the cluster and in the back are little knob things that you twist. Replace the LED and test. That's where i'd start first.

    the palm of your hand...

then give the cluster a good smack

Really? It happened at EXACTLY the same time I replaced the alternator, which is why I suspect some other connection. Still, I've had a crappy day at work - I suppose I could beat my car to get some frustration out of my system...

Keep your eyes open for a "WTB: RT4WD automatic gauge cluster" post...
  • it's free !!
it worked in a integra too

    but in your case...

    hahaha
