Starter spins, engine doesn't turn over. Lost all power going down the highway.

Just got it home dropped off the tow truck. Here's a clip of what's going on.

I believe that is a bad starter solenoid. Your starter is spinning but the solenoid is not doing it's part to push the gear out to connect with the flywheel and spin the engine.

That doesn't explain why you lost all power going down the highway though.... maybe the solenoid got stuck and kept pulling power which ran the battery down? Sounds far fetched, but that's all I got. I once had an alternator go bad and my car died while driving. I noticed the a/c wasn't cold as first, then the radio went off, then the car gave up the ghost.

    Best of luck!

Edit: Just saw your post about the timing belt. Yikes!!! That sucks!

  • It's all good. Learning experience. I knew when I got it I should have done the timing belt. Now I know even more that I should have done it =D
