Innovative motor/transmission mount inquiry

I'm trying to find some decent motor mounts that won't vibrate my fillings out. In searching around it seems that people have said Hasports are way too harsh.

So I'm looking at these sets from Innovative

The wagon has a ZC motor but from what I've read these should work on it just fine.

Has anyone run these mounts, and can confirm. Or anyone comment on the amount of vibration they get from using them. I'd like the motor and what not to be so squishy in there but I don't want to rattle everything loose if I can avoid it.

Cheers

I had innovative B series mounts with 60a bushes and didnt like them, too much vibration which created to much noise for my liking. I think you will struggle to find aftermarket mounts with soft feel like stock.

Maybe try filling your OEM mounts with Sikaflex?
  • Bummer. Well the OEMs are worn as hell. Not sure if they were replaced when the motor was replaced, maybe maybe not, but the body has 300k on it and they feel mighty squishy. I did read on another forum where a guy filled in the holes with some 40a urethane, left a little quarter inch hole in each for an air gap, says it works great. I think his particular honda had a 5 mount setup though

I'll have to check the Sikaflex and see what the shore hardness on that is. I found some Tremco Buff Vulkem 116 that does have a 40a hardness and that can be found here in the states plenty easy at Home Depot or even on Amazon.

I'll see what others, if anyone, weighs in on, but for the price might just be better to get some fresh OEM mounts and then fill up those gaps.

Depending on how horrible it is to change these out I might do a video test of how they are now, then with some fresh mounts, then fresh mounts filled. Set a cup of water or something on the engine and just see how much it vibrates it. Jurassic park style testing.

Thanks for the quick reply and input.

Here is a rough guide that google found, no doubt a more intensive search would unearth more info if thats the way you decided to go

  • Excellent, definitely will be using that for some reference. Yeah I think the one I was looking at (no pics) the guy was saying on the lower part of it he just left a little 1/4" hole instead of the full size hole. Either way, seems like this is the way to go. When I do it, I'll document and do a write up of it here as well. I think the girlfriend actually has a spare toaster oven. Take that out on the patio and bake em for a while to get em cured up.

Cant hurt to give it a try if your mounts are already shot, only cost a couple of tubes of RTV and your time
