i am going to buy a d16z6 off a 1990 civic hatchback, shouldnt it just be a simple swap because hatchback and the wagon are the same year??

    1) Z6's doesn't come from an EF.

It's hard to answer because it all depends...

Are you swapping just the engine? Or engine and trans?
The engine should just bolt up to your current transmission. whatever it is.. well as long as its a D series.

The transmission mounts you might have some issues with. I converted from my stock d15B2 Auto tranny to a manual using a S20. It's from a Z6 engine... but it didnt exactly bolt up. I had to remove the auto tranny mount bracket and weld on a 5speed one..and im still trying to figure out the rear mount issues I have (maybe you'll run into the same).

but like I said it all depends.

the ef and your wagon may be the same year because they were made in the same years. but the engine that's in that ef was only used in 92-95 Ex civics so some one swapped it in...

so yes, it will be a simple swap as long as your wagon is already setup for it.
If not, then there's the dpfi to mpfi swap you have to do. as well as the obd1 conversion if it hasn't been done yet. and mount issues with your transmission if you're converting... with the hydro tranny from the Eg civic or newer you're gonna a way to actuate the clutch.. via cable or fluid. i sticked with the cable clutch and pedal (from the same year wagon as mine) and just got a b/h series cable to hydro clutch conversion.. but if you're already 5 speed then you dont have to worry about that..
that's all i know. good luck.

also, the z6 is a nice little engine.
