LF inner cv joint breaking

I've seen this in a few threads but mine is a little different. Anytime I have the steering wheel locked to the left the inner joint seperates. It's as if the joint is being pulled apart. I've been through 5 napa axles. It looks like the wheels have a very wide turning radius, is that normal in the wagons? Is it possible that the napa axles are too short? It's a 2wd 91 stock engine and it's not lowered. No front end parts have any play in them. I'm stumped. Thanks for any input and sorry for the book.

Are you sure nothing in the front end is bent? hows your castor on both sides?

I haven't been able to find anything that is obviously bent. I'll put it on the alignment rack at lunch and check my caster. I'll yet you know where it's at.

Triple check the axle part number. All else being good, sounds like the shaft is just plain too short.

Ok, checked the alignment. Camber and caster are dead on spec. The toe is a little out but not enough to cause any issues. The lead tech at my shop seems to think that the wheels are turning too far. Lock to lock I have four full rotations of the steering wheel. Napa only lists two part numbers 23 spline or 26. Hondas part numbers have the wagon and sedan matching but the hatchback is different.

Mine is lifted but this may apply...

Some axles have shorter CV joint inner housings. I tried an oreilly new unit and it was about 1/2 inch shorter than one from autozone. The total length of the cv axle was the same but the inner joint housing was shorter. When turning all the way the joint would pop out with the shorter Oreilly part.

I just put an or axle from a 93 del sol in. It was about 1/2" longer and the same thing happened. Are the steer stops on the knuckle meant to hit the strut fork?
