Front rear differential mount replacement

Does anyone know a good technique for getting #5 (front rear diff insulators) out of the metal bracket in #4? I did some searching and couldn't find any info. The shape of the bracket up top basically seems to prevent any method of pressing #5 out of there. You could press on the center "sleeve" of #5 from the top but it's in there so good that it seems it's just going to tear the rubber up before actually pushing the entire mount out.

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated. The only thing I can think of doing right now is to use an air hammer or something to completely collapse the outer metal ring of #5...

There really isnt any good technique, This is what i did and it still took a while.

Cut or burn the bushing out

Cut a slit in the side of the metal busing collar as far down as possible without damaging the bracket itself

start to hit it with a hammer and flat head screwdriver from the outside until you are able to collapse it. I also gave it a few taps from the top side once i collapsed the metal collar and it came out.

it will take you a good 1-2 hrs for each one.
  • Burn out the bushings. If you have a burn barrel or fire pit, get it going and get those bushing burning. leave it sit there and burn while you work on something else so you're not just wasting a bunch of time.
