White the f*ck

So.....long story short, I bought a wagon off a fellow PNW owner. Steve posted his wagon for sale on the forum and I have always wanted a third gen wagon. Wife and I rolled over to his place and bought it off him. The wagon is pretty dang clean and well maintained. Steve did a great job starting her and I plan on doing her right. First I'll start off with a couple of photos I jacked from Steve.

I'll take some more photos that better showcase how clean the interior is. Did a few minor upgrades to the car once I bought it. Needed a new ignition switch. Every time you turned the key on it would pop the number 4 fuse, causing the vehicle not to charge. Few tests later and we found the issue.

Also replaced the tires, 185/60/14 junk rollers for now. I've got an order in with my work for some 165/65/14's.

Also fixed the front swaybar link pins, they were rattling all about.

178.jpg

Finally had a reason to finish up this little gem.

Dont mind the junk iPhone photos. I'll get a better one with the real camera on my day off.

Also upgraded the door speakers.

Should be doing more work on wednesday, my one day off. I'll keep ya'll updated!

I really like this wagon, I have a gold one myself. What are your plans for it?

Nothing super crazy. Mostly just OEM plus. I'll run the stock motor until it dies. Looking for some wheels....interior upgrades....fix up the suspension a bit.

I'm torn between which I like better. The third gens just have so much swagger and character.

    Merry Christmas to you too!
  • Began rolling the fenders. Only got the right front done. Thanks to Chulki for letting me get at his roller.

    199.jpg

Also got my new head unit installed and squared away. Gotta have that bluetooth connection. I hate wires.

    200.jpg

Lastly, made a trip to The Home Depot. Needed some MDF to start building my small sub boxes. Who needs a truck when you have a wagon? Use them roof racks boys!

    201.jpg

Now to start cutting and building.
  • New struts showed up today. Now to fix how the rear end is lowered. It has coil over sleeves in the back but I'm pretty sure they're actually hitting the body on the top when going over bumps. Going to cut them down a little bit and see if it helps. I'm not so sure that the spring is even doing anything when its on the ground. We're going to build some ramps so i can get it up on the alignment rack at work and check it out before we do anything.

Also washed her tonight, single stage paint still has grease prints all over it. Really needs a good cut and buff...or just a complete paint job. I think I'm leaning towards painting her. Champ white anyone?!?

Thanks Bill, I'm really hoping to get some paint laid on her this summer. Hopefully I'm fully staffed at work and will have the time.

No champ white, do a bright white like taffeta. I love the super bright whites after a fresh paint job!

Problem is I've already had a couple of bright white cars lol.
  • I would be into the champ white, lets see some more interior shots! If you are interested in an under seat tray I have a spare, has a small crack in the plastic but it doesn't affect anything.

Wagon came with the under seat tray. Or at least one that goes under the seat. Just kind of slides under...idk if it's factory honda or just happened to fit. Same thing with under the mat in the truck, has a nice plastic tray that fits under the carpet but on top of the spare tire.

ill try to get some interior shots with my camera tonight or tomorrow. It could use a good scrubbing.
  • Awesome man, It's probably a factory tray. I want to see the tray in the trunk though, the 4WD AK's have the spare on the belly of the trunk instead of inside.
  • Fixed the rear suspension. Was rubbing all over the place and any bump we hit sounded like the rear end was going to fall out of the vehicle.

Rubbing the rear beam on the spare tire well....

    Exhaust rubbing on beam...
    274.jpg

pulled out the ground control sleeves to investigate.

    275.jpg

    276.jpg

Cleaning up the edges after cutting off the nastiness that was the sleeve. Hacked off about an inch and a half of the sleeve.

    277.jpg

Why did I cut off a chunk of them you ask?

    278.jpg

Because they were beating up the unibody every time I hit a large bump. This was the top of the sleeve.

    279.jpg

The car rides SO much better now. Much more smooth and less noise as well.

Thanks man. Next up is re-wrapping the OEM pods and the cargo cover. Hoping to get that done here in the not so distant future. Also have a couple of 6 inch sub boxers to make as well.
