Fuel Pump Wire

I bought my wagon a couple of weeks ago. I was looking under the dash and there was a odd wire plugged into one of the terminals on the fuse box. I follow it and it's connected to the fuel pump. The original wire harness is just tucked away and looks super dusty/dirty like it's been that way for a LONG time. I remember reading somewhere not to plug a wire from the fuse box to the fuel pump.

Is this bad? It's running fine. Would it behoove me to try t get the original harnes back it?

It sounds like someone has bypassed the main fuel relay. If you return the wiring to normal you may encounter no-start issues.

Yeah i figured that. I re routed a thicker gauge wire and added a cutoff. I wonder where you can get one those key chips where you had to plug in the chip for the car to start under the dash to fake a theives out. U just want to add one to thow them off and tape the wiring up to the harness. What cars came with those in the 90s?
  • Just put a switch in somewhere. Those chips are stupid easy to bypass, almost as easy as a switch, but harder to install and it sucks when you lose them. Switch is probably way cheaper too.

I wasn't going to hook it up. I just wanted an empty chip holder to throw a thief off. just tape the un hooked wires going nowhere to wire harness. That way they hopefully won't look for a switch.
