so i put Bruce back up to stock height... then gave him some new shoes -- civic HX wheels and some BFGeeez all-terrain tires (195/75-14). they rub a little when the wheel is fully turned, but i kinda don't give a chit. he's looking pretty nasty.

    - roof rack
    - fog lights
    - maybe lift him an inch or so...

thats a good looking wagon. nice tires.
  • If you only want a few inches more lift talk to Dr Morty... or Bam Bam, they can both give you insights on lifting a wagon Mort has some blocks in production/R&D that will give about three inches of lift with little modification. How much turning radius did you lose by going with those tires? Good looking wagon and I am very proud to see a member with an RT4 that is not slamming it

Does look pretty sick with those tires man. Another guy you can talk about more lift is 3rd4ce. Can't wait to see more.

super nice touch there. when i get the cash for foglights, hopefully i can integrate something similar.

yo FullThrottleFreak -- thanks. i've definitely been checking out Dr Morty's and Bam Bam's build threads (503wagon and 3rd4ce too). really rad ideas in there. regarding turning radius, i haven't lost too much. the rub happens on the plastic cover on the inside of the front fender/wheel well.

that headliner on your wagon is nasty! (the good kind of nasty)

hi swagon_3512 -- thanks. yeah, i'm sure i'll be hitting up 3rd4ce in the future. i love that old cvcc wheel in your ride (and i'm prolly more excited about those cup holders than i should be)...

thanks beastmode -- i'm still collecting reference images for how i'm envisioning the rack although i think i'm looking for something a little more custom. i like 3rd4ce's rebuild of the xterra rack. in the end, i think i want something that's a civic/time appropriate interpretation of something like this:

anyway, that's prolly way further in the future as it will require custom fab... will get there eventually

Those wheels and tires are sweet!

Might have to get some for my lifted wagon.

Does it take away any power when running those bigger tires?

I must ask the same question... any Loss of power?

it seems a little less responsive, yes -- but part of that is just me driving him tenderly until i know how far i can push him. also, i kinda remember reading that rocking larger tires can mess with the VC, but i need to go back and double check that (or if somebody knows, please confirm). the HX rims are obviously much lighter than the stock steelies/bottle-caps, and i'm hoping that the overall difference in weight is not too drastic to really disrupt anything.

so update on the tires after a week of driving: they feel amazing -- love the added comfort and slightly higher stance. however, the fuel economy really took a hit. normally, i get 300-330 per tank (10 to 12 gallons). butts, i nearly ran out of gas on the way into work... sputtered into a station at only 230 miles from last fill up! was not expected such a dramatic shift. i did less highway travel, so i'm sure i took a hit there too, but damn...
  • I'm lucky to get 270 miles per tank, that also might be because its lifted and has 250,000 miles on it.

I wouldn't recommend running out of gas alot of crap at the bottom of the tank.

haha -- yeah... this one caught me by surprise. normally, i err on the side of caution.
