RT4WD Whining at FWY speeds

At freeway speeds my Wagon's diff has kind of a loud whine. Is this expected from these old cars? Will the front diff bushing mod make this quieter? New u joint? Change Diff fluid?

    I had something similar, it was a high pitched whine - it turned out to be the carrier bearing. Replaced and the noise was gone. It was very hard to figure out where the sound was coming from.

    Hmmm. It's not really high pitched. Carrier bearing is where the axles go in to, right?
