Well folks, after 12 years in the same wagon, it's time to let go. 564,000kms... countless trips across canada, east to west, when I was a younger man I man have even proved my manhood in the back once or twice...
Next week, a different wagon will try to take it's place. Huge shoes to fill. If my wagon could talk, it would tell you the story of my adult life. I'm making plans for a proper resting place where I can pic away at it for hopefully many years to come.

I bet this wagon has an amazing story.
Glad to hear it will always be close by.

    The new ride.

b18 swapped. terrible coilovers, terrible shift linkage job. hood and roof were since painted black, it's a bit rough around the edges, but fairly rust free.

    $650!

So are you parting it out now?

Keeping with the history of the car, even the end, is never the end...

There is to be ZERO part out. Here's why... a short story...

I had been a frequent customer at the local wrecking yard, mom and pop stuff, and he was ordering a new modular home. For whatever reason, wanted me to do the mudding. I had mentioned to him that if he wants a good job, he NEEDS to have the mudding done ON SITE after the house is delivered. A 'modular' is a 'ready-build' house that gets delivered to you. Usually pre-finished, and everything cracks and moves when you deliver, install. I insisted he get the mudding done after install.

Anyway, 2 years later. I drive my car down to the yard, tell him "it's time..."

He's a bit shocked, apparently i'm one of very few people he even lets in the yard, let alone to pick his own parts.
Terry, (Waneta Auto Recyclers) lets me drive in, put the car up on blocks, and strip the whole thing down in the yard. I have to go back on monday to get the engine side of it done. Today was focused entirely on suspension and brakes. I need to get my new 'turd' wagon road worthy mechanically...

And back to why no 'part-out'.
    - wagon parts are hard to get
    - i love my white wagon, nobody gets shit unless it's me. 12 years, 564,000kms. i'd rather burn the parts in a sacrifice. smoke a joint, drink beer, shed a tear, and move on.
-Terry has assured me he will not crush the car without letting me know first.
    - the b18 in the new wagon is going to get a SEVERE beating this summer. If I don't blow it up, I will be disappointed. I can't believe how cheap b18 longblocks are now... it's been awhile. I remember my brother paying $5k for the first/only b16 swap I was involved in, ages ago.
    - the d16a6 in the wagon was amazing, 40,000kms on rebuild. this b18 has huge shoes to fill and zero history, clutch could go any day, no idea. The Zc/Si LSD trans alone is going to be reaaaally hard to deal without, not only do i know the history of my a6, but also of the transmission.
    - My brother hit a deer with his twin charged EK and is dangling a Jackson Supercharger (d-series).
    - I sold a backup set of hatch struts a few months ago, really with i had them back.

This b18 can't blow up soon enough.
The photo's above don't really represent it's reason for being there... coming soon... the close ups. mwhahahah it's like wagon snuff porn.
  • Awesome story. Can't wait for the next chapter.

I've been spreading the gospel, wagon struts on Amazon for $11 US. If they won't ship to Canada, I will hook you up for cost.

Top of Kooteney Pass in BC yesterday.

Looks like a change of plans as far as what happened...

I sold all the D-series stuff. B-series has torque, and that's what I need. It was a hard decision.

    1990 Civic Wagon 2wd:
    - Florida car, 210,000MILES. clear coat peeling off, almost no rust.
    - 4th owner

    Engine:
    - B18a
    - K&N intake
    - Custom 2.25" exhaust
    - DC 4-2-1 header.

    Transmission:
    - JDM Y1 w/ factory clutch type LSD (the LS trans was ditched, LS 5th was saved and will go in later)
    - K-tuned Circuit Pro shifter

    Wheels:
    Summer - 15x7 Enkie RCT-1's +38mm
    Toyo Proxies 4's - 195/50/15
    Winter - BMW Bottlecaps, 14x6 +35
    Studded winter tires

    Suspension:
    - Koni Yellows w/ ITR springs (lowest perch settings on the yellows)
    - Godspeed rear LCA's
    - Mugen rear sway bar, 22mm, custom 'L' bracket welded to the stock tow hook brackets to accommodate the enormous Energy Suspension grease-able bushings.
    - OEM 19mm front bar.
    - Prothane/Energy Suspension bushings all over the place

    Brakes:

    - 10.3" DA fronts
    - Axxis Ultimate pads.

    Steering
    - CRX Si rack
    - Momo wheel and hub (not ebay)

    Interior
    - Mostly gone
    - Dirty
    - Lots of Dynamat from previous owner (stereo guy)

Just did 2000km road trip, not one hiccup. But damn, the JDM transmissions are geared tight. What's the speed limit in .JP? 80km? I'm spinning 4000rpm at 110/km or roughly 70/mph. 120/km is an ungodly 4300 or so. LS 5th please. I also purchased a b18b, it is going to get prep'd for boost over the next few months.

    Above:
BMW Bottlecaps in bronze. studded winter tires.

have acquired a b20z and spoon springs for a DC. going to replace the ITR springs and hope for the best. Wagon suspension is trial and error till you find what you really like.

ditched the DC front hubs and Skunk2 camber arms. The DC arms were all wrong and I shouldn't have been using them. The Skunk2 stuff has the worse ball joints ever and they wear out super fast. Went to DA front knuckles and oem upper arms. Perfect. Alignment shows everything in spec.

Oh and for all you assholes out there that hate on my 'work wagon' interior, the current wagon looks exactly the same as the last one, go F*ck yourselves. *BILLBOARD* :)
  • Amen to that, mine is currently gutted as well. Makes not giving people rides way easy.
  • quartersquarters Council Member
Yup, and with 1 seat, hitch-hikers can kiss my butt. There are lots around here and i just give them the *shrug - no room* gesture.
  • quartersquarters Council Member
Now this is how you all drywall mudding tools around... I can fit an 8' ladder and 8' - 14' adjustable plank in there as well.

Looking good. My cnotecivic has been a 2-seater for years, too. There's stuff from the boat that's been in there since summer.

I swapped to obd1 and am running a Neptune RTP ecu. launch control is hilarious.
  • quartersquarters Council Member
    Yes, i'm still around.

Just finished ditching the b18a in favor of a JDM b20 and...

    - new exedy clutch
    - jdm itr header w/ 2.5" collector
    - full 2.5" exhaust. Magnaflow resonator and dynomax vt muffler.
    - itr flywheel.
    - repaired 3rd broken pedal box
  • Awesome - are you still using your wagon as a work-car?
  • quartersquarters Council Member
Partially still a work car. I bought a 94 toyota pickup for most work duty now.

So i do finally have 2 seats in the wagon again.

    Fresh off the dyno.
    144whp
    134tq.
Im pleased on a stock b20.
