blew it up

so two days ago i blew up my wagons stock motor, the timing belt snapped i was idling when it happened so i dont know how bad the damage is yet. i am going to pull the head on Tuesday. but since i have to pull the motor and such i am going to use this chance to build it the way i want. i am also going to do a lite wire tuck since my engine will be pulled out why not im in there my plans are for a nice all motor build. im going to use by block after its honed and decked, want to balance the bottom end also. think if i can get a good deal i want after market rods with p29 pistons. y8 head that will have some light work done to it also after market intake manifold if its in the budget. im going to use the y8 head gasket and i am looking for 11:1 compression. my goal is to keep it under 800 bucks and i want 150 whp. i have other goodies already on the motor that will be swapped over. i think the most expensive part will be dealing with rywire for a chipped and mapped ecu.i will be taking pictures as i dis mantle and build this over the next few months. very time and money restricted. if anybody has any input it will be warmly welcomed. thanks

I think your compression might be upwards of 11.5 to 12-1 which is pretty high. From what I remember you can hit 11-1 with a stock d16A6 bottom end, a y8 head, and a 2 layer y8 head gasket. If you crave a little more just get the head milled. All of this would be cheap enough to leave money for a good BILLET cam, I wouldn't get a regrind due to issues they can cause with stock valve train. I mean they will work but longevity is key in my book. Xenocron is the shit for ecu chipping and crome is free.

Also this should probably be in the technical area. GOOD LUCK!

Are you sure the motor's toast? What makes you think it is? Have you put a new belt on it yet to see where things are at?

I've popped timing belts On 3 different occasions, some at idle or just off idle and one at 7,000 rpms and never did I incur any physical engine damage.

However if you're treating this as an "opportunity" (read:excuse) to build a motor, I have a set of Endyn Rollerwave pistons that give about 10.5:1 compression with the Y8 headgasket and a stock Z6 head, so you could easily get that to 11:1 with the Y8 head and a bit of milling. I'll give you a great deal on them.

Keep in mind that aftermarket rods usually "need" aftermarket pistons, because the rods are made for floating wristpins and the OEM style pistons have no provisions for retaining the wristpins - no wristpin clip receiver grooves. OEM rods use pressed in wristpins.
