87 Wagon **new pix** wheels finally!

So I figured I would clean up my build thread a bit since it seemed a bit cluttered. Removed some sh*t and organized it a bit better to show what has been done.

So ya finally got around to lowering the monster. And traded for my 13's back. I still need to mess with the back a bit but I need to make my adjustable panhard bar and buy a decent set of coil overs first.

Great looking Wagon! Paint looks immaculate!
  • theEFkidtheEFkid Band Wagon
wow, looks like it just rolled of the showroom floor
  • I love the way a wagon looks from a head on angle, 3rd and 4th gen Civic's are some seriously sexy vehicles.
  • Ya, the car is insanely clean I'll toss up some interior and side shots tomorrow when I get home.
  • (Removed for now)
  • Looking great man! As for the trim you need for the radio any single DIN stereo should come with an adapter to fit a radio opening that's for a single slot head unit like the ones in Civics.

Check out crutchfield whenever you're not sure about electronics or size and fit, they're a great resource:

Stereos for the 2WD '87 Wagon:
    http://www.crutchfield.com/g_300/Car-Re ... 5684&avf=N

Stereos for the 4WD '87 Wagon:
    http://www.crutchfield.com/g_300/Car-Re ... ml?tp=5684

Both lists are identical for the most part but you get a very nice and large selection that's confirmed to fit properly and all include a proper spacer sleeve for our car's console.

EDIT!: Also, at the Toyota carpets. It's almost ironic how much the '83-'87 wagons looked like the Corolla All-Trac Wagons from the early 90's.
  • O good deal thanks man. Ya, its kinda funny I was planning on checking out an 90's corolla wagon a bit later in the day. But, fell in love after I drove it haha.

    Yup!

There's just something magical about a Honda from the 80's. It seems that between 1982 and 1992 they could do no wrong; it's a pity that their later vehicles weren't as radical and unique in the following decade given how great they were before.
  • welcome Steve. Nice wagon man, it looks super clean! It's good the 3rd gen Civics were a similar chassis to the 1st gen Integras...so some parts swapping is available there. Torsion bars are nice. I remember my '87 and '89 Integras and loved driving them!

Wow! Steve, that is a really clean find! Welcome to the Wagon fiber!!
  • Went down to pick n pull in southern Portland and found a blue 86/87 can't remember which wagovan with all the trim pieces i needed including the wagovan rear side window interior trim + window bars, new front blinker lense, volvo front lip, new antenna, and I managed to snag the Civic Wagovan rear emblem off the hatch. Pretty sweet for only spending 35 bucks. I'll get some pics of everything on once I get the fabric I ordered for the headliner which will most likely be next weekend.
  • So, I've been trying to find some information on lowering the rear of the wagon... but, since a majority of the wagons on this forum are 88+ I've only been able to find little tid bits here and there. So, maybe someone will be able to shed some light on a few questions I have.

Why can't I just cut the factory springs that are currently on the wagon? I know they are a bit thicker then say the 87 CRX springs so would that cause a shitty ride?

    viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4881

"We used 88-91 coilovers for the rear of numorous older Civics and Integras. Never got any negative feedback from any of the people we did it for either. Rear springrates from the coilovers were around the 250-350 mark."

So I am assuming if you can use 88-91 coil overs in the rear the same spring/shock combo would work as well? I'm trying to figure out the best way to go. I know ground control makes rear coil overs so if all else fails I will just order them.

    Found

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-91-HO ... #vi-ilComp

Fairly cheap. Says it will fit an 88 CRX so wondering if anyone knows if they will fit the 87 wagon?

    viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1043

"Buy struts for a civic hatch or crx of the same year as your wagon. Then you will need springs from a 88-91 civic hatch or crx to go along with your struts."

Maybe I answered my own questions, I'm just wanting a second opinion.

Nice, can't wait to see what it looks like lowered. I personally haven't seen a pre88 lowered. Keep up the good work, looks like you're doing your research :D
  • Whatever will fit on a 84-87 civic/crx or '86-89 Integra should fit in rear of your wagon. I've never heard of anyone using '88+ parts in an pre-'88 wagon.
  • Alright exactly the answer I was looking for thank you.
  • No problem. Ground Control's kit for the 84-87 Civic/CRX/'86-89 Integra rear coil over setup is pretty good. I had a friend install them on his '87 Integra before and it did the job well. I think Tein even makes a kit. Might want to go check out www.g1teg.org or www.redpepperracing.com for more details though.
  • O good deal.
Ya, I've actually been eye balling http://www.ground-control-store.com/pro ... =505/CA=73 since they seem to be the best bang for the buck.

    Now to look at:
    -Shocks
-wheel combos I really wanna try and find some old school mesh or even some basic 15in steelies... how I love the look of steelies haha
  • Awesome! Found an article on re indexing torsion bars.

In the process of lowering the rear

Love your ride man looks great
  • Haven't updated in a while but finally got around to ordering some Ground Control rear springs/sleeves and started cleaning up my 86 OEM roof rack. Removed my radio flyer and welded up the holes. Not sure yet if I wanna repaint it or remove all the paint like I did on the front. Not planning on rusting it but I have heard some cool stuff with rubbing diffrent kinds of oils on to keep the clean metal.
