Gab's Wagon build

Hi.!! Hope you all are having a good day. So how do i begin this show and tell. Hmm?? (Thinking) If i can recall what really got me going on getting my hands on one of these wagons is going to forums just like we are in now and on the search for the right rig to build.I love fixing up cars when i was a bit young and in fact i started with an EG coupe. Did all kind of stuff to it and it was a fun car to drive. Sold that got in to 4X4 for a while but it's something about honda's that keeps you coming back for more.

There's ton's of import cars that you can toy with now a days and parts are easy to find. Don't know about you but I’m in to the older models Japanese cars. Man!! if I can have them all from Toyotas, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru’s, Isuzu, Suzuki's I'd get them all. But the thing with older Japanese cars specially here in the states they are freaking hard to find. Parts are hard to come by and if you buy parts out of State it will cost you arm and leg for it. So the decision was made and stick to something I can really enjoy building while ride it around for daily and that is the Civic Wagon FWD or the RT4WD.

Here’s a look of my first Wagon: It’s and 91 FWD with clean interior and straight body. Lowered on no name coil over and did my very first engine swap. I was not 100% happy with it because what I really want is the AWD version of this model. While building my first Wagon I come across a Dude that want’s to get rid of his AWD version wagon and just focus on his Integra. Man!!! Did I jump all over that deal..!

On this picture you are probably wondering about the AWD rims. Didn’t have steelies at that time and the car was about to get sold so I have no choice but to take the aftermarket rims I have on and swap it with the AWD rims.

Soon as I sold the FWD wagon my hands was all over the RT wagon :smug:. Got me a set of Miata rims and roll on that for a while. I actually like it more than the HX civic rims i guess its because of the spacing on the spokes. They are a little wider that the HX and that makes it easier blowing out dust on the front brakes. Or just a personal choice i guess. Planning on taking this rig snowboarding so YES on the Yakima roof rack :encouragement:.
195.jpg

Not exactly a center cap. What i did is sanded the Miata logo flat and spray paint the H symbol on it LOL!!! It was a clean set so getting rid of it is no problem.. SOLD soon as i posted it on CL.
196.jpg

Got me a nice clean 15" enkie set and came up with my own center cap. It came out nice and like'n it.

197.jpg

Scored my self a EF hatch mid wing and installed that asap.. Then got me a top wing on ebay and played around with it. Kinda tricky making it fit but i guess it will do for now.

It took me a while to decide on what fog lights should I install on this rig. I did some research what's is easy, cost less and a factory look on the front bumper and I decided on the yellow EK fogs for this project. It’s a perfect fit for the factory cut out on the bumper. According to the specs and measurements I got from eBay it’s should be breeze to install and with a little mounting bracket mod it should work. I did run in to some problem making it sit right. The fogs are too long from front to back and it’s hitting something making it hard to mount flush. SOLUTION: In order to make it sit right I have to grind off this little piece and BOOM..!!! Got er done :encouragement: …

  • Nice ride.. I have the same top wing from ef hatch but haven't decided if I bolt it to OEM one or swap it totally, how you like yours bolted together? And WHERE YOU GET THE MID WING?!?!?!?
  • On the mid wing i got lucky on CL. The guy that sold it to me cant install on his hatch due to all the mount missing and i guess he doesn't know how to fix. It was an easy fix actually, a quick trip to McLendons hardware and a JBweld its a done deal. On the top wing i did have to mount the hatch wing on top of the OEM. I did a quick job on this mod but if you really take your time measuring it right and a little grinding the hatch wing will sit there almost like a factory wing for a wagon. I've seen it done and it looks cool.
  • ive been thinking about doing the EK fogs. Those look good BTW, i've seen so many done poorley. You took the time to cut it out.

  • Those EK fogs are dope. That's something that is up there on my list to do sooner than later. I think you helped me solidify my choice of fogs, although I want to see if I can find them in clear and then throw HIDs in em. You gonna roll to the Seattle/Portland meet up later this month? I haven't been back down to the yards yet to get the rest of the power window stuff.
  • Nice work on the fogs.
  • the fog lights look really good man. Do you have a straight on shot of them? what front lip are you running? car is coming along great cant wait to see where you go with it. keep up the good work!
  • Thanks fellas.. Finally figure out how to post with pics so here we go. Loading more pics now in my photobucket. Glad to share all this simple mods I've been busy with.

Yes ser they do sell them in clear.. eBay all day long.. Oh I want to see it on HIDs that will really lit up the road bro :encouragement:. I'm working on a bullbar project and Planning on hooking up my HELLA offroad lights on those bullbar Rallylights style LOL!!! Will see how it works. I'll post pics when im done. I'll pry join with you guys when there's a local meet. Let me know when you are coming down again for more junkyard adventure. Feel like wrenching for more parts and see what's in inventory..

Sorry about pics.. It's only a sample just to give you an idea.

Got the lip donor from a VW jetta i think its a year 93. It's a one piece bumper so you'll need a utility knife to cut it. Its a exact fit from end to end no cutting. Cracks me up how i discover this lip. I was on a junkyard hoping I'd find one and another guy beat me to all the potential wagon lip. He got a VW lip already in his hand and wrench'n out another one out of a volvo. He was kind a laughing at me while i was staring at this jetta bumper. To think its not going to work but i did it anyways. Bust out my utility knife with brand new blade and cut it like butter. He was like wtf?? and followed me test fit it on a EF civic. Oh Man you should have seen his face when it was exact fit.. I was like peace out bro Im outta here..!!

When I got the car it came with a no name coilovers and it ride like $#!T..!!! Got to do something about it quick so I went to my source (THE JUNKYARD) and bought me a set of KYB struts, lowering springs and a camber kit for front and back. Haven’t got it an alignment so thats one thing i need to do.

  • Dont like the look of my headlights when it's turn "ON"and the hi beam is OFF like there's a dead spot on my headlights, so what did is came up with a crazy idea and test if it works. What i did is i took out the hi beam light bulb from its housing and mod it to take on a LED light. To wire it I tapped it to the parking lights and now no more dead spot on my headlights : )

  • After dink'n around with my headlights i decided to put in the sidemarkers using a Landrover sidemarks. I like these type of sidemarks because they are easy to install, quality is tough and water don't get in. No need for screws to hold them in place. Cut the hole and they snap in and self locked.

  • Having a good sound is everything when it comes to being behind the wheel driving through traffic or just enjoying the cruise. Got my new stereo in and some new speakers in front but I dont have any speaker pods in the back and would like to have some in the future. Now to balance out the sound i need a speakers in the back so i got me a 6x9 speakers and installed that on a cheap 6x9 box. Somehow the sound still ain't right. I need some woofer speakers to kick off the bass, but I'm not really looking forward on putting a huge speaker box in the back. Gotta stay light weight and still have that bass sound without lossing the space in the back. My solution to that is this. I gutted a 6" woofer i got from a garage sale and turn it into a bazooka tube. I have some material laying around so might as well used it. Bass kicks like a one 10" woofer and it's all i need :encouragement:.

  • Damn son, puttin in work! Good stuff! Dig those high beam LEDs and how they look. Don't know if I could give up my high beams, but that sure does look cool. Nice work on the side markets as well. I plan to do that but need new fenders first as mine are all jacked up. If you happen to see any 88-89 blue front fenders let a brutha know! That Montero is sick. Wish I had a 4x4. Thinking about buying an rt just for camping/snowboarding.
  • Finally get to finish my roof basket after a year LOL!432.jpg

Didn't just took out high beam without replacement brotha.. Got my bull bar hooked up and no bull bar is going out without driving lights.. So no worries if i needed to lit up the road the HELLA'S will do the job :encouragement:. I will be installing a total of four just like in a rally car. All wired up to my high beam switch, turn on the high beam and "LET THERE BE LIGHT" BOOOM!!!!!

Is that an aftermarket bullbar? I'm interested in alternatives to the OEM since they cost so dang much! I'd also like a little lower profile bar and it looks like yours might be lower.
  • No on the OEM Bull bar it's for a CR-V or Rav4, pretty much a universal bull bar I guess. It's real easy to mount and I like it alot. Not too tall and not too short the measurement is just right, almost even with the bumper. Cost less than the OEM and it's very sturdy.
  • you're doing some really cool stuff with your wagon man keep it up. I look forward to your updates. wow how could you forget about those wheels thats crazy!!!

Thanks man :smug: I do little stuff here and there with my wagon when I'm taking a break improving the house we just bought. All this time those set of Sportmax 501 was just in the storage. I remember now buying it then straight in the storage because at that time i was moving out of the house we rented LOL! Yeah I'll be doing more mods, stuff that are real easy to do and keeps the wagon looking cool.
  • Went to the Junkyard last Friday and bought me these: A Fuba antenna and a 93 DA Acura integra gas cap holder.

    466.jpg

Now to install it with less pain and quick n easy.. It's very simple, fish your wire along with a 12V source, tuck em nice and neat. There you go :encouragement:.

    467.jpg

Now for the gas cap.. Make sure to use a heavy duty adhesive double tape and clean surface with alcohol swab. To install shave old mount flat and stick steaky tape. DONE!!! like a blink of an eye LOL!!! Easy and it works.

  • Very nice junkyard finds. Your wagon already has a bunch of really cool small details to it. Can't wait to see more, especially once you get that new paint on.

Thanks dude.. Yep with little mods you'll be amaze on how things will turn out. Hopefully next year I'll throw down some paint but for now I'll prep the body.
  • My Steering wheel:

Got these techniq steering wheel years back and thought I'd mount it to the wago and see how it look. It's set up on a MOMO hub and quick connect, dont know what brand but it works.

    483.jpg

    484.jpg

Sorting through my old stuff I be finding me some good stuff i bought years back and stored. I bought this MOMO for my boat and never got to install it because i dont have the right hub for it. After i sold the boat it was put in a box and stored away. Can't find the horn kit for it so i came up with my own see..

    644.jpg

Test fit!! Horn works, feels good.. I'm good with that : )

    485.jpg

    486.jpg

Just the other day i found the horn kit for it. To finish it off I hooked it up on a NRG hub kit YEeeaaHH buddY!! If mac got the black and white version on their iphones etc. I'm calling this my apple version of steering wheel. Lol!!!

  • I really want a bull bar for my wago. The OEM will cost you arm and leg for it and i heared they are not as solid built. I did some research and this is the result on what i decided on. 2" tube bar with offroad lights mount built in to it, solid built and pretty easy to install. Pretty much a universal fit for any small SUV like CRV or Rav4. I like how it bends looking side view on the bumper, not too high or too low on the height. Perfect on how i want it.. Check out the result after the install .

    507.jpg

I have to drill a hole through my lip to make the install nice and clean. I made the bracket flush even with the oil pan so i can lower the car more and still have enough clearance.

    508.jpg

    509.jpg

    510.jpg

    511.jpg

Painted all the bracket mounts flat black and ready for final assembly :encouragement:
  • Putting together a ZC engine and boost it :encouragement:. Hoping to do the swap soon. Nothing crazy just a little get up and go when needed. Tune to 7-9lbs boost should do, would like to hang on the motor for long and not blow it up.

Valve cover being prep to be painted.

    570.jpg
ARP Studs Im using for DOHC ZC (Part #)

    571.jpg

Doing a test fit on the RC injectors making sure no leaks and all tight fit. Thinking of painting intake manifold.

    572.jpg

    573.jpg

So far this is the easy way to install a bung for oil return. If done right there should be no problem with oil leaks. Thinking of getting another oil pan for back up, (oil pan takes alot of beating when car is lowered) on that back up oil pan I'll weld the bung just in case this one leaks.

    574.jpg
    575.jpg

    576.jpg

I have most parts on hand to complete the build, all i need is time to put it together. Hoping to get er done soon. Can't wait to see it boosted :encouragement:.

This is what i got under the hood now. Just another stock set up with intake.
