Cole's 91 Build

Well I am glad to announce after about a year of wanting a wagon I finally got one. Although not exactly what I wanted (91 Red RT4WD) I could not pass up the deal. I found it on craigslist and it turned out to be posted in the heads up thread and a wagon forum member. I payed $296.42 for it overall after I found a butt load of change in the car while cleaning it. It does has its problems though which is the reason I got it so cheap, but I love to work on cars as much as I do driving them so I figured it wouldn't be a problem. It needs a new drivers side door and fender (was hit by drunk driver), starter, battery, ignition switch and both cv shafts. There is a local junk yard that has a 91 Brown RT4WD that I will be getting parts from as well as two other wagons. My plans as of right now for it is just to get it on the road for right now but later down the line I want to fix the surface rust that Ohio/Michigan winters like to plague hondas with, get a roof rack, lower it, and possibly boost. Im not on the biggest budget so this will not be a fast moving build thread but I will be sure to keep you guys updated. Onto the pics!

Yea, the car is really clean for the price I paid. The interior just needs a good solid cleaning, no major rips or stains though.

Yea, me and my friends rarely ever take anything serious and give each other shit about everything. We are kind of a goof troop if you will. The funny part is that he hates wagons with a passion and every chance he gets he rips on them. After sitting in it for about 15 mins he was looking to see if he could find any on craigslist. He is one of the people that if he drives or sits in a car, sees a cool pic or video he wants one.

Here are some pictures of how we get work done in my garage.
We forgot to take pictures of us "fixing" the fender.

  • wow it take a wrench to check the wiper fluid and the oil and a socket to check the radiator coolant wow .... oh and the headlights
  • ColeCole Wagonist
Yea, you would think they would design it better so you don't need tools for such simple tasks.
  • nono way...way to clean
    to be a red neck...
    ahahaa
    LOL

    go easy guys...

  • Definite goof troop! haha

Looks like a good score for the money. Where are you located?

I'm in Blissfield MI. Its about a half an hour away from Toledo OH. Its cool because I work in Toledo and bring all the Ohio money back to Michigan.

Picking up some rims tomorrow for summer rims and tires. I'll post pics when I get a chance.
  • ColeCole Wagonist
Well the rims fell through. The kid he bought them from said they were 4 x 100's and that was clearly not the case. I got my money back though so I can't complain. Did spot some mesh bmw rims off of an e30 today at the junk yard. Might be picking those up instead. Also found a third parts wagon at the same junkyard, so now I have two color matching wagons I can pull parts from in a 25 mile radius!

What is your guy's opinion on the e30 mesh rims?
  • try some pics 1ssst...

    dont mess with the roadkill...
    serve as a whole...

PIcs of the rims? I am am confused about the roadkill part....

My girlfriend went to the netherlands for about a month over the summer and really wants to take me back with her this summer. We could have one wagon, two wagon enthusiast meet.
  • yep
    e30 mesh rims

    we'll see
  • ColeCole Wagonist
I am going to the junkyard on sunday so I will try and get some pics of the rims. Scored some speaker pods from yesterdays junk yard visit for $10!

Aww, you grabbed this from Ohio, I sat there looking at it on craigslist for a month thinking I should get it but never jumped from it because I wanted to wait for a rt4wd.
  • ColeCole Wagonist
Yea, I saw it on craigslist and the next morning I was driving to get it. I really wanted a RT4WD too but I wanted a wagon and I figured with as much as it snows here I don't really need a RT4WD. Some day I will have one though!

So I went to the junk yard today and got some parts, I'll post some pics of my finds later. I have a question however, I searched to see if anyone had a thread on this and I came up with nothing. The wagon I got parts off of had a cruise control setup on it (looked OEM), I was just wondering if anybody knew what all components make up the cruise control as I am interested in grabbing it and installing it on my wagon. Also the wagon was an auto so would it work for my manual? I am really lost with the whole cruise setup so if anybody knows anything about this or has done it before please let me know!

you do not need that stuff.. most wagons dont even go that fast.. lol.. j/k... i have it in my wagon but i think that shit is aftermarket.. i will look it up at work tomorrow since i work at honda.. i can find that stuff out and see if we still have any laying around in portland.... :?: :?: :?:

That would be sweet if you could find a manual set up. I found out from a friend that most of the parts will work but I will be missing just a few since auto trans cruise control is not the same as a manual. He installed cruise control on his eg and said he might be able to help me with mine. Let me know if you find anything out though!

Here is one of my parts wagons. Picked the speaker pods out of this so far for $10! Might go back for the under hood panel.

I am pretty happy with the amount of parts wagons in the area. So far I have been to two of about twenty-five junkyards in the area and both have had a wagon. One has three and the other has just one. Maybe I will find more!

^cool semi rare- rear speaker pods and cover for a first gen...
  • Thats great, not much around the Columbus area!

hey man where are those parts wagons located?? I need some doors and those brown ones look clean pm me I can't find any parts wagons up here in the tri-cities
  • ColeCole Wagonist
The wagons are at a couple of junk yards in Toledo OH, what doors do you need? Some are nice (like the one I bought) and some are not so nice. PM me what all parts you need and I will let you know if they have them and what shape they are in.

On a side note I will be picking up some parts tonight for a MPFI swap!
  • NIce score on the parts wagons .

Might be picking up another wagon this week, going to look at it on friday.
