  • you'll change the whole frequency response...
    if i care...

with the levels you are about to play...
    i'll stick to factory...
  • see thats what i didnt want lol conflicting awnsers, yea i thought most amps where 2ohm stable but im not 100% sure

Almost any decent amp will play @ 2ohm mono, I'm currently running both of my 70's civic's at 1ohm mono thru a pair of DVC 12", the '89 wagon will also be running 1ohm thru 2 -12". Im assuming your type-r is dual 4ohm? What amp are you using to run it?
  • yup the sub is dual 4ohm and the amp i was testing it with and planing on buying was a kenwood kac-9104d 1800watt amp :-S
  • Heres the sub
  • got the box and sub in the wagon, box tuned at 34hrz sub is wired up at 2ohms picking up a kenwood x1r exceleron amp, have a 4 farad cap and 4 gauge wire going to be wireing the amp up at 2ohms 1200 watts rms

lets see some pics! any reason why you went for 34hrz?
  • that's why i love my remote controller
    level, slope, phase, cut off
    its a bitch when listening
to so many kinds of 'music'

my guess is, tuned to the speakers
    were one end another starts...

i try to use the SUB for everything you feel
below 20Hz or 28 at least...imho thats where
it really should be, serving its purpose...

  • i will get more pics up as soon as i can get on a computer, i bought the box and it was tuned at 34hrz but i dont know why, is 34 hrz good?
  • so i decited to not buy the kenwood, insted i bought a hifonics brutus 2400 watt amp should be here by thursday
  • i vote that extra battery

    and earplugs...

  • i vote that extra battery

    and earplugs...

haha ear plugs are for wimps lol, yea i was thinking about adding another battery but i dont know how to run it along with my o.e battery so that they both charge...?

    Dont forget a cap
  • yep i all ready got a cap, might be upgrading tho not sure
  • so today i decited to try and work on hiding my sub a little more i cut a hole in the spare tire cover and cut the carpet to fit around my sub box and i droped the sub box into the spare tire hole, and i screwed down the loose carpet to the spare tire cover, and i screwed the cap down ran the wires, now all i need is the amp... And i am going to try and clean up the wireing, will get pics up asap

    PICS!!!!!!!!!
  • yea i know sry, ummm.... Either my car is like sound proof or my box is bad.... Or great....? I was messing around with a 800watt rms amp we had laying around and i wanted to see how loud it was out of the car... So i turned the volume up rolled up all the windows and shut all the doors and it wasnt realy that loud.. I mean the roof poping was louder than the music but inside its a hole different story, it moves your hair at 800 watts :-| i mean yea of course when i role down the windows it gets louder outside the car, is that normal? Cause my last system was two alpine type r's but in a seald box and it was 3 times as loud outside the car, that was in a civic coupe with 1200watts though :-S
  • depends on the setup...screwing it tight...
    chassis, enclosure...blah blah blah...
    interferences...

my sub sits on 4 app. 2x2" rubber pivots...
    hollow...
    and not attached to anything...

    i want vibrating airwaves...
    not the car...
    : )
it was 3 times as loud
how did you do that by measuring or by ear...?

and there is another issue: standing waves
in or out of phase ...
meaning you stood in the wrong position/distance
  • the box is as air tight as it can get besides the port, and its siting on over an inch of pading, i never messured my last sub to see how loud it was but you could hear it alot more right outside the car compaired to the sub i have now where its alot louder inside than outside witch to me isnt that big of a deal because i want it to be loud not the whole neighbor hood
  • More pictures!!!
  • i want it to be loud not the whole neighbor hood
    drive faster !! : )

the power you feed to an sub...
will diffuse over the # of inches ...

its like you hitting a sumo wrestler fullforce...
    he's gonna yawn and say...
'i think' i feel an itchy coming up...

    and...
you can kill eardrums with a single(1) Watt

i think you should use boatpaint for the enclosure,
    maybe a 2-component paint
or use wood at least an inch thick pref. more

  • haha boat paint.. seriously? I got the amp all hooked up works great, i am now building a crapet- wood- plexi glass cover for the amp and cap and sub will get pics up asap
  • haha boat paint.. seriously
    yeah, it can float ...
    no ?
    : )
