yea for coil over sleaves ground control is good, eibach makes the spring those have been the best i have used, i acually just took those off. the problem is travel even with crx rear and front shocks theres only 1" of travel!! thats with the tire at the fender, at my job we are a tien dealer so ive been able to do some reserch and i think i found a combo. rear shocks from our wagons are almost the same as 96-00 civic em-ej, so im saving up for some tien flex, and some gravel tech the parts are out there to make these wagons rally stars just have to figure out wich to use any one thinking of new options for suspention you have to use 92-00 lower fork for the front, for more travel 96-00 rear strut. thanks for the input though, do you auto x as well? if so what bracket did they stick you in? i got stuck in e-prepeard, porshe, vetts, lotus, and a ive never seen a comaro handle corners like a crack head running from the cops, lol, he is good!!
If you run the 96-00 Civic rear shock just understand that you need 89-91 Civic LCAs (if you have an 88 model) and you must shave the lower control arm bushing area because the 96-00 shock has a more narrow lower fork than the 89-95 Civics.
I know from first-hand experience since my 1992 Civic has 96-00 Civic Koni Yellows.
The funny thing is from what I've seen the 96-00 rear shock looks to be the same length, spring perch height, etc. as the 92-95 Civic, but the 92-95 is a direct bolt-on to our wagons and fits perfectly over the rear LCA bushing. I just put a set of 92-95 KYB GR-2 shocks and lowering springs (Neuspeed soft sports/green) onto my mom's wagon and the ride is amazing, seriously. It's softer, but definately firmer than stock. I did have to cut (sounds ghetto I know) a coil from the rear springs to make it sit more level.
I used to auto-X a lot actually. I was in the ATL region Solo II. I was at first racing in SM in a 1992 Si HB with a B18C5 swap, and my wife was also racing in SM wither 1992 Si with B16A2 swap. The cars just were not competitive in that class. SM is probably the most hotly contested class in the ATL region.
I then build a 1992 CX chassis and left it bare on the inside, which in my region classes it in E Mod which is basically a crap class with only two other cars uncluding a rust bucket 70's Mazda RX3, etc. I started racing for time only just to have fun and compare with friends.
My wagon isn't an auto-Xer by any means. It's got Eibach Pro Street coil-overs for the 89-91 EF sedan/hatch which are soft, but for my DD usage they're perfect. The problem with any EF coil-overs is that on a wagon you have to slam the rear as much as possible and jack the front up just to level the ride height out.
This is full down rear, almost full up front:
As you can see it still sits an ounce higher in the rear, but that's the way I like it actually.
Have you test fitted any of the coil-over combos you're talking about?
yes the flex has a 2 way adjustable perch, the stut body is movable, as well as the spring. wich i found to be important! compressing load on spring gives a less bouncy ride, kinda found this with my sleeves. when i have the wagon overfilled with heavy stuff the car rode real nice, when i unloaded to make another trip the bounce was back! im trying to come up with a stut hat that moves the top of the strut bolt futher into the car. preludes, scion tc, celicas ive seen like this from the factory. so i try it soon. yea as for auto x politics most rules dont make any sence but i think its the im the underdog all the time thing that makes it fun! on a good day im 1 and half sec from these guys, makes them scratch there heads, even been told "is that with or without the grocerys?" btw nice wagon very clean! thats a great offset for your rims, 32-35 et? i like flush!! 8)
here is some updates on the fenders now i can run 0 et wheels and not stick out!
if this crap weather didnt sneak up so soon i could finish them! but for now
they are coming along, this spring i will make a mold and slam out the glass fender, will be a bolt on for the crx bumper, soon i will have the rex siR hood and lights. those are the plans anyways
it feels strange driving so high, i never drove it this way i bought it with cheap coil overs, drove it last years snow slamed! it wasnt to bad but since i have some new gc's just sitting around i used the sleaves with the s-tech's in the rear and and the whole kit in the front. when my snow tires get here ill go higher tires are 205/60 choosen for gearing reasons.
me too really, this weather sucks for spirited driving but snow can be fun also, just wish mine was awd, not that i really had many problems with ff's in the snow.
well i just got some used 215/45-17 snow tires half life so no need to buy just stuck them on some old msr's i had laying around. no rubbing to my amazment could probably go 225/50 since i have like 2 more inch of lift left. kinda feels like my buddys crv now

i just leave mine slammed and push the snow around.
i wish mine was awd too.
i run 13" steelies with meaty tires that cut through anything... unless it's too tall for me to push.
yea did that last year lol here in chicago they dont belive in road up keep bent the shit out of my former motor's oil pan  not that i wasnt changing the motor anyway but not this motor, its not staying forever but i will put it in someting else later. chitown speed bumps suck!! yes they are like regular speed bump exept they on the freeway!!

I drove through Chicago once. It smelled, there were stupid ass tolls, and every 1/4 mile the road was being worked on so it constantly went from 3 lanes to two lanes and so on. But I saw where the White Sox play, I saw the Sears Tower and I saw the ghetto ass elevated train.
yes it smells its dirty and people argue when i say NY is cleaner.
but my plans are to move out to washington state or oregon in the next year and a half. i like mountains and i miss the ocean!

scary .
i like chicago, but i've never driven through it, or lived in it.
Wow, that looks really clean, good job man. though i do have a question...how will you handle the back door area, it looks like the flare has some interference. also, are you going to attach the rear flare to the bumper or trim it up?
are you planning on getting rid of all of the trim?
yea i saved the fun stuff for last i will be doing a split there, athough at one time i was going to weld the doors shut because of theives, two less doors to wonder about. but living without them so far has been a little bothersome. the molding on this car will be removed
oh yea the rear bumper, well that works well with the mud guards so i just have to put them on, but not molding anything closed, got to able to service the car.
thanx very much! color hmm have a few in mind but dont know just yet, midnight pearl, or champ white, but that drab green has been catching my eye but that i might save for a diffrent wagon 8)
no updates have been working, but since there has been some jdm nissan in the air here's what i get to work on 8)
my boss's r34
his cuz'n r33
and a great friends s15
some of these are crap pic's from my cell but its som of what i found off hand
its funny as nice it is to get to work on cars like this... i'd only want a jdm honda!!!
well its been a long time since ive done much to my wagon, but ive started again. i will have some pictures soon.
yesterday i had a new windshield put in, over the fall some kids were playing football and they broke it, hmmm didnt know footballs could do that but hey. after 5 months and a warning from a cop i got one put in. the glass cost me $155 installed, and its brand new, was even able to get one with the tint fade. i love it! i dont like to apply tint there because of the line from tint to none, but a nice fade i do like. found some good parts for the body they are coming soon. new rear bumper and support, no more sag cant stand that. and coming soon is D2 coilover kit, tein has gone way to high in their price's up 40% since summer! thats bs! d2 is a great value, and i know a few that have them they seem satisfied. for $800 shipped you cant beat it. in the tein world you have to go few models up from flex to have the same adjustability, and for those you can buy three sets of d2's! for anyone who wants to find them at that price try autosportz.com
I got a set of D2's with the rear LCA's. Hopefully getting them on the weekend coming up because rain ruined my plans this weekend. All I can say as of now is, they look good in the box. Haha.
well i guess i'll start with the windshield nothing big but it is to me, i cant stand a messed up window.
i cant find a picture of the rust spot that was there, oh i most likely didnt take one it was ugly, but you can see how much i cut out, the new metal is a 1/2" longer than the cut. its a shame there is no rust anywhere else. it seems that the splash guard that hides/protects the fuel filler held in the salt and moisture over the years.
now for the fiber glass, i dont like to use bondo until the end, just for filling the pits and scratches. glass wont bubble its lighter and its feels more like metal.
also im getting rid of the side molding. most new cars dont have them, kinda is what makes them look new and up to date. maybie it will take a few years of the old wagon
now for what ive been staying after hours this weekend, the pay off
well thats all till next weekend. im happy to finally get this project going again. seems like everything has been keeping me from my car lately including the weather, but now its on!! body work is very time consuming, but the pay off is choosing the new color and loving the shine after.

You do know that the Rex SiR hood will be a bunch too long for the Wagon chassis, right?
thanx, i know, i have a fix for everything though but thanx for the looking out! 8)

Cant wait to see the finished product, are you planing on keeping it gray? or going with some crazy color combo?
