Might have missed it, but which braille battery did you get? I've been pondering if they would fit in the cubby you put it in lol. Im looking at the 11.5lb one.
No cross bars / ribs? That does complicate things. If you had a pair of those to hold the rails at an even distance front and rear then center it on the roof. You may be able to get a compatible set from a similar sized car with similar roof rails.

You are correct. i might even try to find a basket that doesnt require cross bars, but we shall see. I prob wont mount rails, until I have basket/parts, etc.

New braille B2015: 15lbs. Def get the B2015 with more CCA, worth the extra $10. Unless you are a straight bawler and can afford the same model in carbon fiber. Will be a lot lighter, but so will your wallet! Anyway see posting #51 for my battery research breakdown.
The B2015 does fine as long as you drive the car 1x every 7-10 days or so. It sat for about 2 weeks while doing upgrades and the wood floor, and the bitch was deader than hell. I will use a trickle charger if i plan to have it sit without cranking longer than a week just for short measure. Works great tho. Have even sat in parking lot for ~1hr just listening to tunes with aux key on and no other real issues even running a small amp for sub.
I have had the JDM rails for a while and ran across a basket on Craigslist this past week. It also just so happend it was in Woodstock (of all places) and the lady was practically giving it away.
Here are the original goods:
The full basket was bout 12-18" too long, so here it is with the middle 24" section removed:
Thanks to Bam's guidance and referencing his mulitple build threads and roof rack installs, I picked up this tool. I will be using the SAE #1/4" course threaded inserts. The OD of the threaded sleeve is about 3/8". Although not required, I used a thin layer of Honda Bond around outside of sleeve for some added insurance.
The rails were mocked up and the mounting holes marked using a sharpie.
I then used a spring loaded punch to mark center holes.
Using the BAM-Tech Drill stop and a 3/8" bit, I drilled the 8 holes in the roof required to mount the rails.
After drilling: Make sure you blow off all of the metal shavings in between holes to keep from unwanted paint scratches.
Adding inserts:

Roof with the 8 threaded inserts:
Had to take a final pic as she sits last night. I will def post better daytime pics when its final.
All in all the install went pretty smooth. The only hang ups were the very front rivets on each side had to be shorted ~1/4" due to the lack of space because of the roof contour down to the windshield. This required me to use a couple of washers on the tool threads in order to crimp the inserts down tight.
I will be picking up some smaller U-Bolts in order to mount the rack firmly to rails as descrete as possible. Then I will be adding some custom stickers to the fairing.:encouragement:
Sorry for the delays. I had some initial issues getting basket mounted without cross bars, so had to go to planB. Here are some updated pics with the rails and rack mounted.
I also finally got around to cutting a new decal. Thought of this design a while ago while speaker box referencing thru KNOTTYY's build. In my web browsing searching for the tree silhouette, ran across another very similar design that had already been done, but this version is family friendly and includes the custom text at the bottom.
I will be working on bombing the fairing with a little custom touch pending time and other ideas so stay tuned...:encouragement:
And if you want to have some fun with it and you send me the file, I could cut that out of green plastic and send you one to hang from your mirror or wherever. I would just have to do some editing so there isn't any pieces that aren't connected.
So as I continue to clean/straighten up my garage after the many projects that have started to move inside (due to the colder weather) I ran across a spare EG rear spoiler that I had. This got me thinking how close would it match to fitting the wagon, because it would look a lot better on it than the shelf. Upon first measurement, the width was pretty damn close, but the underside mounting would have to be modified, but didnt look that hard......Now I was officially SIDETRACKED!
So I found myself removing the rear panel to compare to the underside of the wing just to see how much would need to trimmed.
After a few measurements, out came the grinder to match the contour of the OEM panel. No turning back now!
Same steps as with molding tirebay for sub:
Covered rear panel with nonstick foil in order to make fiberglass mold of the contour of the panel.
Once dry, another layer of fiberglass to fill corner gaps and mate mold to existing EG wing.
Getting ready for some bondo:
First prepped the panel and edges with painter's tape and newspaper for unwanted extra spillage.
Then a test fit
After applying a skim coat of bondo and some sanding to blend seams.
After A LOT more sanding, gonna use these on the final product
After multiple coats, and sanding with 400grit between coats here is the finished product bolted on:
The final piece, as is, right now is not showroom quality by any means, but I think it is clean and is a look I will keep. I will have to do some more finishing fiberglass/bondo touches to the blended seam where wing meets OEM panel, and some minor surface blemishes, but looks good enough >20mph, so will do for now.
Now back to finishing what I had started before getting sidetracked, cleaning the garage and getting ready for T-Giving! My next update will prob consist of stickers for the basket fairing so stay tuned...:encouragement:
I think it actually looks pretty good! I wish there wasnt the bump in the middle, if that makes sense?
Yeah! Dont you guys worry...its been bugging the crap outta me too since i bolted it up and been looking at it the past 2 days. Ill feather it out in the coming weeks. I appreciate the honest feedback!
Custom Shift Knob
Cleaning up the garage in preparation for thanksgiving I ran across some left over Ash from some of the bats I have made and wanted a matching shift knob to match my rear floors....SIDETRACKED AGAIN!
Started with this....
After some shaping and turning:
Marked and turned the recess for the center emblem:
Final turning and multiple grit sanding
Picked up a M10-1.50 nut
It will be drilled and mounted flush on the bottom in order to thread on shifter
Nut mounted flush with epoxy
Final
Stained, Emblem added and clear coated
Mounted
Now back to finishing up the surface details on the spoiler! :encouragement:
Dude you got some talent :encouragement:!! The fiberglass work you do is amazing and the idea of building custom accessories is awesome. Great job!! That put's you on my fave list.
Nice work! Where did you source the Honda emblem for the top?
Thanks for all the compliments! Im making a few more for family members for xmas gifts. Prob wont sell any because I want them to be unique, wouldnt know what to charge, plus dont have the extra time....Still need to finish up my spoiler and now figure out why the wagon sputters and shutters hard under acceleration loads >than 2500 RPMs (its acting like an exhaust leak and/or vacuum leak or something) so im driving the EG and just have the wagon parked for now.
I also want to try and make me a matching Ebrake handle too! :encouragement:
TVox- I ended up using keychain emblems for mine and my father in laws (see pic), but they can get pricey and hard to find ones that will work. I may try cutting a few on my vinyl cutter (if it will cut small enough) for one or two im turning for family.
Just as another teaser, here is the one i did for my father in laws mustang:
