  • Looks like one hell of deal you got. Minus that huge honda sticker.lol. Well you should come out to the wagon meet were having this weekend. Check the meets and event section to get all the info. Hope to seen you come out.

what are the details. i really have yet to give this thing a long road trip. its got a minor leaky head gasket. a mysterious CEL, comes on whenever it wants and effects nothing, and not so good with BIG hills. lol.
other than that not bad for 208k miles

That mysterious CEL is probably caused by a bad O2 sensor. The ECU doesn't even try to read the signal from the O2 sensor until the car heats up a certain amount, and the ECU doesn't store the O2 code since it's probably the most common; that's what causes it to be so intermittent. Either way, pull back the passenger footwell carpet until you can see the ecu, then turn the ignition switch to the accessory position so all your dash lights and whatnot come on. There's a little window on the front of the ecu, and a red LED underneath that will flash the codes at you. One short flash will indicate error code "1", the O2 sensor.
  • but the only problem is is that it only turns on when it wants to, and usually while im driving. lol. has no effect on how it performes or anything. than i turn the car off and back on and its gone. ???

Yeh that's pretty much exactly what it does when your O2 sensor goes bad. Even if the CEL is on, the ECU should have stored the code and flash it at you until you reset it, so just go check it out and you'll know for sure what the code is. Or you can just do what I do when troubleshooting and drive around with the carpet pulled back.
  • yeah i think what ill do is just when it pops on. pull the carpet back and read the code. also would this effect the way the car starts? at time the car wont start. its got spark and everything but sometimes throws a code and wont allow it to start.

    here are some more pictures

Nope, the O2 sensor wouldn't make it not start sometimes. That could be your clutch switch... next time it does that try pushing the clutch down into the floor harder and see if it starts right away.

Also..... if you put a longer intake pipe between the throttle body and air filter, you will have much better midrange torque, and still very good high end power.
  • k. ill try the clutch think next time it happens. ill try and get some more piping for a longer intake. this motor is such a turd though. does hella good in town and 10-15 min freeway runs. but suffers on going up long or steep hills.

Yeh I feel your pain, I just got rid of my D15 for a D16A6. Definitely give a longer intake pipe a shot though, you'll be pleasantly surprised how much it helps on hills when you're not in the powerband.
  • k. ill try that. are parts from a crx interchangable? i know the exhaust isn't. so i've heard,
but yeah i need an exhaust, mine is rusting apart.
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
It really all depends on which parts, but a lot of them are. Headers and exhaust manifolds are the same, but the way the muffler is routed through the rear suspension is different; I bought a crx flowmaster exhaust and I'm just going to cut and weld it to make it fit. You could probably use the cat from a crx if needed. rear suspension in the crx is different, front is all the same/interchangeable. some interior parts are the same... just random stuff. engines and transmissions swapable. rear disc brakes on a crx are swapable to a wagon if you take the whole rear trailing arm i believe.
  • Ill probably end up getting just a ebay intake for it. and the short throw from a crx would fit?
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
Yeh the short throw should fit. Ebay is great for when you just need a section of shiny pipe heh! I can't vouch for much of the other total bullshit piece of crap parts they let people sell on there. Hard to F up an intake pipe though! You might see better gains from an engineered intake pipe like injen or aem, but probably not noticeable by your seat-of-the-pants dyno. If you've got a stock intake pipe from the wagon or that crx, try cutting it down to size to get the filter to sit right where the air box is (remove the airbox!) and go drive it around. You'll see what I mean about the torque! It wont made that INSANELY loud crazy intake sound and high rpm though like it does with the short pipe!
  • $500 bucks , Hells yea .
  • hell yeah. granted it does need some work but dude...500 bucks, cant pass that up
