Madwick checking in

so i drive a 95 acura integra gs-r; lowered, shaved the door moldings, painted berlina black, shaved spoiler holes and rear wiper squirter hole, besides all that the car is stock @ 190k miles.

recently traded a motor with a buddy and aquired a my 1990 Honda Civic Wagovan DX.
180k miles, all stock, automatic, needs TLC and some parts but it drives fine! i'll be driving this "Whip" until i graduate and will keep you all posted on further mods as i go.

PLEASE, feel free to comment and help inform me on cool things like how a DA lip fits and where to get a driver side fender...

thanks in advance
Chadwick

    Where y'at, Chad?
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
ChadWICK, i hate Chad. but its all good, every body gets one.

yo bam, im on IA. from the dirty Columbus Jowja. i might be headed up your way in about a month to hit up HPC in Bufford for a driver side fender and a wiper control switch. mine for some reason was swapped out for a no rear wiper switch so i have a rear wiper but no way of turning it on! im bought to sell my dc2 since i lost my yob building airplane parts. this was free so ima run it til the motor has to go and try and do a b20 awd conversion.

ps. my volk te 37's are gunna somehow make their way under this wagon...

HA. I have a friend named Chadwick, he wants to scrap if you use the whole thing

There's some Columbus crew coming up to the Varsity next week, we'll be there, too, come on up! Check out Columbus native bigdare23's new board eastcoastefcivics.com.

That's funny. My first name is George, and that's what I say when I get hit with Georgie.

Welcome to the board! I badly miss my old brown auto 2wd.
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
i'd love to but i got to work tomorrow and i need to bleed the brakes cause the pedal doesn't respond until halfway to the floor, and my friends bd is on halloween so theres that and im an excuse maker so...

but yeah that was me on IA. i picked up the car today. i am in need of a few things!!!

low a/c hose from (condensor to firewall)
    driver side fender
    hood
    hatch shocks
    glove box hinge
    driver seat (has infamous tear)
    factory radio harness
wiper switch (mine is without the rear wiper switch but has a rear wiper???)
auto tranny gear indicator ( the PRND4D3D2 next to the shifter)

    i want

    new, shorter shocks
    new, lowering springs
exhaust (something basic but better looking)
    20% tint all around
cd player and 2 sets of speakers
    cruise control
    paint, buff, wax

    why am i so needy!
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
i still haven't washed it bc today was overcast with sprinkles! i hate driving it with sap dots everywhere! N E WAYZ....

ps. i was attempting to flush the brakes bc of the pedal responce before. it wouldn't respond until halfway to the floor. so i bleed the lines and then tried flushing the lines. i did the farthest first and worked my way in twice. afterwards, it got worse! now i have to pump the brakes almost 7 times before it grabs a little while yanking the E-brake. gunna resolve this issue later since i have another ride right now!

also. the rims are 15x7 american racing "i dont knows" painted flat black while fast dry spray paint ($ 0.98 at lowes) one can for 2 rims inside and out! cant beat it! plus it looks 20% better!

    now, on to your opinions!

    Get a master cylinder.
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
the master cylinder was just replaced recently before i got it. im wondering if i need to just take it to meineke to get the brakes flushed and properly pressurized. also, im wondering if there is water in the lines somehow. i know that makes them spongy until the water gets hot then it expands into a gas and causes the brakes to be constantly applied which is not the case for me so its not water. so nevermind water is out.

car now is not working, car is being traded back. no more wagon for me
  • Well, that was short lived...

    Come back, save a wagon....
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
im back in the game!!! recently bought a house in columbus ga and have my own space to work on the wago! now just to some how figure out why it sputters in higher gears/speeds!!!
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
decided to do some work on the wagovan since i bought my house. i purchased a new fuel filter and the damn thing worked great!... until the gears changed. some reason it would sputter sometimes in diferent gears. so since my dd (95 gs-r integra) is not having any issues i decided to pull the motor.

    heres my pics

now i plan to find and install the infamous d16a awd auto version. being that i dont have the time or money to get the rear end parts needed, im going to use the 2wd tranny until i can accumulate them. i also need a new fuel pump, sending unit and the gas tank needs to be either replaced or fixed. til then ill be in my garage.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
I still have a parts car with the tank in it..
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
my g/f is down with going up one day. im waiting on hasport to email me back. im trying to find a auto tranny mount for b k or j series cause i have found one of each that i am willing to put in. ill keep you in the loop!
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
newest plans. none of the other series engines will fit in the wagon with an auto tranny. going with a d16y8 longblock and sticking my auto tranny to it. any thoughts?
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
i need help!!! so im sticking with the d series motors but i want to swap in a new motor. i have found a D15B Vtec-E for 700 shipped. is this worth it. instead of vtec opening even more air flow in higher rpms, the Vtec-E stays closed to allow minimal airflow and ioens up to regular air flow at higher rpms for a more economical gas mileage. this setup also comes with the auto transmission it was mated with from the factory.
  • 91_wago91_wago Wagonist
hey chad (thats my one) it depends what you want out of it. if you looking for good millage go for it if you want more power get something else. i personally think 700 is way too much for any stock d series motor. whats wrong with the stock motor? and why not a manual swap?
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
my ultimate plan would be to find the d16a rt4wd with auto awd tranny. i really want something easier to drive daily and plan on having a car my fiance can drive when needed.

so first, i found a seller on ebay selling the rt4wd motor and engine for like 800 plus shipping.

any advice on how i can get that setup a lil cheaper?
  • I got my z6 long block for 200 plus a bunch of extra parts. Swap was easy to keep stok ef auto too. I highly recomend for ease and cost efficiancy.

    update on "The Beast"

motor received a new engine harness and was installed. not sure what happened but the fuel pump wouldnt turn on. after help and advice from fellow members i was able to locate the issue.

the fuses were out of wack to say the least. i had a fuse in the sunroof (dont have one) and in the open terminals. i believe that the fuses were installed while looking at the dagram upside down. now that the dummy lights work. power still not going to the fuel pump. i am now able to jump a wire from the radio harness that is 12v after ignition. the fuel pump turns on and primes but does not shut off. the car runs. the idle seems to be stuck at 2700 rpm. i am now running to a friends house to borrow a main relay to see whats up. ill be checking back in frequently to update issues and resolutions.

thanks for all the help on this thread and my others!

    madwick
  • Make sure the ground on the engine harness is connected at the thermostat housing. That's the ECU ground which controls the main relay and fuel pump. That's the first place I'd go when faced with these symptoms.
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
thanks. that ground is good. i found that the ecu is giving me cel's 5 and 7. what is that all about. im going to try and look it up then ill be back.

5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
7 TPS - throttle position sensor

it looks as if i hooked up my vacuum lines wrong. any idea on where to find a diagram on that?
  • stampernstampern Senior Wagonist
If it's a dpfi harness that has been converted to mpfi, make sure the tps sensor wires got swapped. the two outer wires on dpfi are exactly opposite of the mpfi ones - common thing that gets forgotten. And the map sensor error could just be a bad vaccum hose. Not sure where to get a diagram. Both of those sensor do have 3 wires, not sure if you can interchange the connectores and accidentally plug the tps into the map and visa versa, but I'd double check that too.
  • MAP plug and TPS plug are the same. Like Stampern said, they might be swapped.
  • MadwickMadwick New Wagonist
no they are fine. my map sensor is on the engine bay harness. it never came out. the tps is broke but the connectors still connects. the vacuum lines broke off though. i need a TPS and vacuum lines ran.
