  • The 89's had a little impromptu shoot out today while jump starting a weak battery in the rain. Finally got the wagon into a drivable state with the front end on.

Currently working out a deal on engine swap...in it, may be a Z6 for the wagon. To be continued...

And yes, she's for sale already. :(

The good news...I'm only selling because I found the holy grail of RT4WDs in a barn and she's putting put to use for 2fer project. :)

No, but holy crap that one looks good and it's only 40 minutes from here. Funny that now I find some, and they all come out of the wood work.

Krylon Satin Almond. It's rad and is a pretty close match to the original paint (YR88?)

Here's a couple links for the build...

Just take your time and put on the coats lightly and even and it can come out pretty good. It took about 10 cans to do mine and that was on a fairly similar base colored base. If you're painting a different color, it will take you more.

    awesome!!!

    what a transformation!!

    rattle can spray job ftw!!
  • yeah im thinkin about a fresh coat of milano red...i would like it to retain some sort of professional look tho and I have no idea how to protect the paint (wet sanding, clear coat, etc) what would you suggest to make it come out clean

Jeah! I'm gonna miss the little guy. Should be gone tomorrow.

If you're going for something more than a budget, I would look elsewhere for advice. I really can't tell you much about professionalism or protecting it...other than the can says "indoor and outdoor" and adheres to just about anything.

What I would suggest is doing all the prep work yourself and having it professionally sprayed. Just my opinion.
  • She's done been sold. :(

Even though I didn't own her long, I'm glad I was able to make her a bit better off than when I got her, and the fundage from her will support the two RT4WDs being delivered tomorrow. Doing all that work and sending her off though, I will miss her.

Moving on up... :o Will post pics of the new projects tomorrow...

Yeah I was kind of worried about it too. seemed to be up there pretty well so far though. Luckily the wagon has plenty of spots that hold it on in the middle and side, so that helps. Thanks for the props on the paint...it was my first ever attempt and I learned a lot, and it came out pretty decent in person too. The new owner loves it.

Yeah plenty of work, but it's fun plus I made a good chunk of change to throw at the new project. :)
