My new/old EG sedan

Check out the latest project

I happened to be on a local Civic forum when this car popped up "free to a good home" Pm'ed my number to the guy, went and picked her up a few days later

One owner car, 146,151 miles :D The guy said his parents bought it for him brand new, it's the only car he's ever had...wow. He said "it just quit running on the freeway, and I figure it's time for a new car. I don't want to spend any money on it."

Cost me $66 and 2 hours to put a timing belt and water pump on it. Runs perfect, cold AC, cruise, everything works. Has damage on one door and no radio.

Awesome! Sometimes, you get what you pay for. Others, you come out waaaaaaaaaay ahead. That's how it was with my first wagon - 91, FWD, FREE. Had some kind of a charging problem, and the previous owner (who was born the same day, same YEAR as me - weird) had had everything in the charging system replaced, gave up, and bought a Prius instead. Then, 6 months later, she had to move out in a hurry and get rid of the car fast. I was the lucky recipient. Charging problem was as simple as a bad battery. First thing she replaced, but she must've gotten a defective one. It needed an exhaust, so I got that, plus my then local Honda specialist (FunHondas in Maynard, Chang is awesome) to give it a full once over. Other than the battery and exhaust, it was fine! OK, so the heat wasn't so good in winter - I know now that's as simple as a thermostat. Oh, I couldn't get it to pass Mass. emissions, but when I moved to an area of Maine without emission testing I was fine.

After a year or two, I sold the car to a friend for $1000 - twice what I had into it. I felt a little bad about that for a while - until he drove it a couple of years, then got $1300 for trading it in. :)

So yeah, free cars are cool, especially if you can fix them easily. Congrats!

I figure it's karmic retribution...I've been doing a lot of pro bono work lately. Actually now I have maybe $350 in it. That's including emissions, tag, and title. I'm fixing it up for my Dad to drive (probably <3Kmi/yr). I've replaced all belts and hoses, all fluids and filters, full tune-up, new O2 sensor...basically if it can be serviced it has been done.
The car already had a new radiator, battery, distributor,2 new tires etc. :D Also 2 bigass amps, an Alpine cd changer, Boston woofer pods w/ crossovers, Polk rear deck speakers...just craaaaazy.

    Thanks. That's SheWhoMustBeObeyed.

Hey, I revisited this thread for a quick question: Are there mudflaps available for this sedan? Dad just asked for some, and I told him I didn't know but would find out.

Nice! I wish I could find deals like that, My friend has a knack for scoring good deals. I've never had a deal like that yet, Although I picked up my Wago with a B16 and ITR trans for $1700. Which I thought was a smoking deal.
