definatly needs some work... currently doesn't run, may try wrenching on the motor if the weather breaks, otherwise, may just put together a browntop/dual weber setup over the rest of the winter.

If anyone has any front bodywork/windshield, speak up! :)

The browntop with dual webers would be a mint swap! Go for it! DCOE 45's...

it's usable, but far from ok. $40 for a new nose pannel... hrm... more than 50% of the vehicle price... think i'll pass....

Picking up a browntop this weekend... looking for DCOE 40's.....

Hrm, i was under the impression that all 84-86 were the selectable FWD/4WD and 87 was the first year for the Realtime AWD.

The other Civics continued unchanged for this year, with the exception of the wagon, which, later in the model year, became available with four-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox.

D, what does you vin tag say for year and month of build. Do you have an owners manual?
I was almost certain that 84-85 had selectable 4wd and 86-87 had the center diff. But if what you're saying is true then you cannot switch your 4wd system off. :?:
For 1987, the four-wheel-drive (4WD) system for the Civic wagon was revised. "Real Time" 4WD automatically channeled power to the wheels that had optimum grip and did away with the driver having to decide (and then move a lever) if four-wheel drive was needed
  • I think we're all in agreement that by 1987 it was RT4WD.

I have a UK 1986 dealer brochure...it shows the 4wd is turned on and off with a push button switch.

I assume this is done the same way you manually disable the 4wd in the later RT versions (the slide lever). Just speculating, but that lever may be replaced with some kind solenoid that is controlled by the push button actuation.

That would be rather cool. :D
If you were into drag racing, launch with locked 4wd then after the 60ft drop it to 2wd..

My 86 has a pushbutton on the dash to the right of the steering column for 4wd. No center diff.
I'll have to get back about the year/month of build...
