Replacing my engine and doing a manual swap, wish me luck!

H there, I'm starting this thread as a place to post all the questions I may have as I embark on this daunting (for me anyway) project. The engine in my car died 2 years ago and I recently scored a 4wd parts car that runs great but is totally rotten underneath It also is a manual so I'm going to swap that in to replace my high mileage auto. I've got a factory manual and I managed to get the old engine out two years ago but now its time to put it all aback together.

My first stumbling block is the speedo cable. I got the clip off and the housing pulled out but the inner cable won't budge. It should just slide out right? What am i missing?

I've tried removing the tab that holds it in and removing the whole assembly but it really won't budge. The metal cable housing is seized in the bore and won't let he cable out.
  • have you soaked it with a penetrant like pb blaster? you might have to remove the tab again and try twisting the housing with a pair of visegrips.
