Red Meets Gold!

Got to work on Friday and was checking on craigslist on my phone when what to my wondering eyes did appear but a red RT not too far from here.
The pics looked good and the price looked even better! Since I just arrived at work, there wasn't much I could do. No phone # just and email.
I sent the link to my dad and gave him a call. He said he'd go check it out for me.
A short time later, He called and said "You're going to want this… The guy said he'd hold it til you get off work. Sweet!
I do not need another project, but it seemed too good to turn down. When I arrived and saw it, I was floored. One clean wagon here folks.
Here is the low down.
91' Manual RT. 166,000 miles. Good tires! No Rust!!Guy that owned it works at a body shop. He bought it from the OG owner about six years ago. It was wrecked in the front
and the owner didn't want to have it fixed so he sold it. He had rear ended someone. Insurance totaled the wagon - so salvage title, no biggie to me.
He said he replaced hood, bumper, fender, radiator support, but no frame damage or anything.
A couple of years ago he sold it to his buddy. Oil light came on due to a leaking oil pan gasket. It was ignored and ran til' it snapped the cam. At this point the
body shop guy bought it back. It has all new headwork, New timing belt & water pump done by the local dealer 200-300 miles ago. Upon driving it I noticed it
shifts pretty hard, harder than it should. Also has the reverse grinding noise. May be some issues down the road. Also, valves need adjusting. It has that
tick..tick…tick.. sewing machine valve noise. Aside from that, it is stupid clean. Drivers sear rip as usual, and driver door panel torn. Other than that, the interior is
immaculate! No add on goodies except roof rack. Not even passenger mirror. It does however have the mounts for the cargo cover
the guy said he thinks he has it and will look. Hood is dented bad from being parked under a walnut tree he said. Clear coat fade on roof and you can tell the car has been painted
due to different shades of red fade. All and all, a steal!
I guess you want pics…..

Here is what I saw when I pulled up.

After test drive

After coming down $500 more from next to nothing OG keys are now mine!

Broken tail light. I have an extra at home

Put my plates on for the drive home

Back at my Dad's house. Red meets Gold!

All better!

Following pic's are not the best, phone is all I had.
Yes, hatch shocks are shot.

Now what are my plans you ask??
Don't know. This purchase was an accident. I have my Landcruiser project in the works now so my garage is tied up at the moment and will be for a while.
The wife really likes it and has expressed interest in having it. Dad really likes it too. I have a buddy also looking a wagon.
For now it is going to sit until spring so I can wrap up my other projects. I will for sure clean it up and get it right. Paint the wheels fix seat etc…
You know how I roll!

I'm going to have to swing by after work tomorrow for a bit and check on it. This waiting til' spring
isn't looking too promising.

She looks a lot better with fresh wheels. It was nice to get to do a little work on her today.
Drilled a hole in the nail to let off some pressure but it still hurts. No pain, no gain!
Ironvan.
I'll see myself out now.
It is now installed and looking sharp. Pay it forward with wagon parts!!
In other news, I fear tranny may be toast. We will soon dive into to that.
Yes that is better!!!
It's not bad for it's age!
